    Nb-

I have scottrade and am trying to quote viking energy. this is the ticker I come up with in yahoo, VKR-UN.TO. That still doesnt bring anythign up? What would be the correct ticker?

Essentially with this stock and its divy, do you make 1/3 back of your cost if you hold it for three months? .12*100*3=360, say I bought 100 shares for 900 bucks.

    thanks

      Your math is incorrect. $0.12 X 100 shares X 3 months = $36.00
You'd receive $1.44 per share Canadian, on a $9 Canadian per share cost. That's 16% on your money.
Scottrade will not quote you the price except over the phone. Call
1-800-477-1960 and ask them what is the current price for VKR.UN.TO.
Or go to TSX.COM and type in VKR.UN Those TSX quotes are delayed 15 minutes. Better still, go with Interactive Brokers and get the quotes instantaneously.

      Best to you!

        Thanks NB,

I will definately check out IB. If I signed up with them and mentioned you could you get free trades? Seems like if I bought through Scottrade, it would take three months of div to pay off commissions. Yowsa!

No Spike. You are looking at the debentures, and they do not pay any divy.
We are looking at VKR.UN on the Toronto Exchange. Stockcharts has 'em.

                  Amazing!

I'm jealous of you guys that get to stay at home and trade. I'm getting more inclined every day to take an early retirement and join you.

                    Greetings,

That is .35 canadian which translated to .29535 this month. Not bad for a buy in at 26.38 today.Average cost now is 28.14.

Looking out over the winter,, 7mos worth of dist. with 1k of shares, approx $2100.00,and hopefully pps may increase by spring to 30 level again.

At least with canroys you should get yield support somewhere.

PBT which I hold in my IRA should announce increase tomorrow, already over 10%.

Heres hoping energy finds a leg to stand on.

                    cordially Tom

I just received some good news of a tremendous real estate bargain. If this deal works out, that retirement I'm looking for will be much closer.

                      • Greetings,

Actually NBB,much more downside here with some of these trusts,Im considering using a %0 line of credit from Citibank for a year,as with HTE if it slides to 20,that would be almost 18% yield,.Hopefully in a year the pps would still be at buy in price.Better than using margin IMO.

                        cordially Tom
