I have 36 consecutive profitable trades of 15% or better. How is this possible? Every day there are hundreds of stocks setting new highs, no matter what happens in the overall market. Many of these stocks are still at very reasonable valuations. Afraid of buying stocks at their highs? Think of it this way: a new high is really a future floor for companies with solid financial underpinnings. Quantitative momentum modeling makes it easy to identify stocks that can continue this upward momentum trend. Why does this happen? It's really very simple..ask me about what investors and cows have in common. I am $$$ MR. MARKET $$$. I AM HUGE!!! Bring me your finest meats and cheeses. You can join in on the fun. Register for free and you'll be able to post messages on this forum and also receive emails when $$$ MR. MARKET $$$ makes his own trades. ($$$MR. How about shorting AMN, up over 10% today?
Alice,
No. Don't step in front of that speeding train. You'll get run over.
What you need to know is the difference between shorting into strength (as Spike teaches) and shorting into a freight train. The difference is this:
When a stock is in a downtrend, then you short into any strength it shows.
When a stock is in a bullish uptrend, if you short it, you'll get smashed by the freight train.
Tom, re the YM, it seems you don't have your TWS configured to show positional profit. I'll post how to do that in a sec. It's easy. Once it's done, save your preferences and every time you load TWS your profit per position is shown. Now let me find the configuration instructions for you.
Can you give aquick heads up on how to short on IB?Im still learning the layout, and can only find buy or sell in order platform,I am set up with margin.Sorry for the ignorance..
cordially Tom
Yep, NB is correct Tom. Just enter a sell market order and IB will sell at the market bid after an uptick. Or if you use a sell limit order, your ask will sit in place until you are filled or change the order to market, or lower the price for a lower fill.
But alice is correct; I just checked and LEA is not available today with IB. (EDIT: I just check the ticker attributes and it's listed unshortable with IB Tom)
I would highly recommend you configure the hotkeys to make it easier. Make Sell/short the letter S, and transmit T and all you have to do is type in the ticker, or highlight the one you've already got on display and press S, make any adjustments with price or quantity (you can configure arrows for those) and then press T and your order is sent off.
Simple.
I note MyTrack doesn't have LEA shares to short either.
Regarding Spikes YM trades,I have JUN YM futures loaded, and show +48 right now, could you translate to an idiot how that would profit from the leverage factor.Im intending on picking up the book recomended by Dave Steckler on Emini trading, but until I find it,was hoping someone could give a briefing to me.Thanks in advance.
BTW Google shows nothing but pay services selling trade ideas as far as the links can be read.
cordially Tom
Each point is $5 on the YM. That +48=$240 change
IB has so much to offer you'll need to study the platform for a month to master it all

Thanks NBB,
Should have done this IB thing a long time ago.

Excellent dude. Add a couple more pennies to your stop to make it over hod. Others should look at this too; Tom has nailed a great trade plan here. Well done dude.
IB is not letting me short this?? Anyone else has this problem with IB?

Simple. Just sell the stock. That is shorting. Click on the bid price and hit the "T" for transmit, and you sold it.

CNQ thanks to you, Spike. I watch the oil plays and they want to accelerate higher, but usually late in the day they encounter heavy selling. That tells me that decision time is approaching. Thanks for your input.
Agree that up is the bias now.
CNQ sets up now actually. R/r isn't my preferred 10, but for lower r/r lovers:
