    Anyone have this problem?

Norton Firewall prevents my Streamer from updating quotes. Is there a workaround besides simply disabling Norton?

You may need to open ports that your quote streamer uses to communicate with its data server.

If you're not familiar with ports, they're communication portals that programs use to communicate from your PC to its host application on an external server. If the port is blocked by your firewall, it can't communicate.

If this is the problem, you'll need to determine which ports the program uses that must be opened. Check your application "help" or contact their customer support.

Are you using a hardware router/firewall as well? The ports may need to be opened on the router as well.

Here is something else to consider. If you are using a pop-up blocker, then you may also experience problems. I am using the free Google blocker. It sometimes causes me headaches.

Thanks for the help. I removed the Google blocker and tried setting Norton to allow traffic on the port that the Streamer was using. It's still not quite working right though, it seems to update maybe once every five minutes as opposed to real time. So it's getting through Norton, just taking a long time for some reason. If I can't get it to work, I'm just gonna uninstall Norton soon and put some other firewall on.
