    Re: time frame

Neither time frame, neither same 15 % target for all picks make sense to me. Stocks have different volatility and the target price should be based on it. I define the target based on the stock 8-day average true range, however, there might be some other ways of doing it.

Well, nobody is obliged to answer a poll, and nobody is obliged to read all topics. As it is easy to see who has started a (poll) topic, I don't see the problem.

It might be more difficult than you think to find a really good topic for a poll. For instance, Mrmarket's top 5 could be a poll, but the result of the poll is just going nowhere, as we can't expect Ernie to be guided by the poll results. But it is a better idea than this poll (and yours ). Voting for a new coat of paint for the site could be another good poll.

    Regards,

    Karel

    Re: A better question

Hey Ernie/Karel, Maybe we should have a poll for bec1/Bruce.
Something like "Do you think bec1/Bruce should stop creating polls once and for all?"
    Any thoughts on this?

    Regards, Norm

Also been heavy into the Nanotech stox.....best of the bunch:
NVEC (mentioned here at 14) - MRAM (currently on a downtrend)
MFIC - makes "atomizers" that can distribute nano-particles ($1.20 - has great earnings for 8 straight quarters!)
TGAL- micro-etching for FRAM and MRAM (1.25ish)

Pix this week on momentum: KFX - ready to bo! in the clean energy biz
FARO - a pick by Stenzrob that is showing great strength
    SLTC & ZIGO

Ernie - Cubs & Red Sox in the "Losers take All" Worst Series!

I got an extra ticket for the Yankee Playoff opener on Tues - trade you for a Springsteen at Shea?
Your stocks are not of the $$$MR. MARKET$$$ variety and none of these were in my most recent dump. That doesn't mean that they won't go up in price but they are certainly not without risk.

You want to trade for my Bruce tix??? I'm in "the PIT" Friday night!!...

Ernie should say whatever he wants. We get enough of that "safe harbor" crap from the corporate world.

While I think that Bec/Bruce is going *ss backwards about this point, I think he has a point, and your comment underscores that basic point. With your bookie you are placing a bet, and with your friends you are drinking beer and having a good time. On the Internet, you run the risk of being taking (too) literally. The more attention you draw, the more critical it becomes to get the message across right. You'll find morons enough on your way, no need to fight even more useless fights. As an example of how easy things are misunderstood: I understood the poll title first to be offensive, although on second thoughts I think that it is supposed to be humorous. Don't count on second thoughts to get your message across.

Of course, making this a yes or no question is a bit, errm, Bec-like. But what is wrong with saying something like: "I expect to make a 15% profit on this stock, and likely within 4-6 weeks too." Or something like it, with a more robust MrMarket touch?

But I know you have been making these anouncements this way for years now.

And I don't think it is poll material. If it is possible to change anyone's behavior at all, it is not with polls. That just degrades into scoring points in silly games. Just my opinion.

    Regards,

    Karel

Lest you forget that Karel is 6 hours ahead of us, dreaming of windmills in the Netherlands. When he wakes up, I'm sure he will have some work to do....LOL!

    Reason for poll

The idea is to make the site have even more credibility. You are not in the minor leagues anymore, Ernie! You can do of course whatever you want; it is just a humorous way ("SUBTLE rantings" as part of the question!) to have you think about the matter!

Please explain why I would want to sell a stock when I know it's going to go higher? Selling a stock at a lower price than its future price doesn't sound like an optimal money making strategy to me if I'm long.

Please explain to me how you can say "I *will* sell in 4-6 weeks" when you don't ?

I am not advocating you selling at a loss.. Just suggesting a wording change so it sounds like what it is... a "positive prediction".. Because unless things really change.. You won't be selling your DKS or your PRX (and of course neither will I <grin&gt in the 4-6 week timeframe..

(I hope to eat my words on that.. )

I never expect all the trades to hit within 4-6 weeks, and have been pleasantly $urprised on several! The survey was "Do I think MM should you change the wording.."

I made my opinion known and BTW the part about "forcing" a sale was meant to be tongue-in-cheek...

We love you Mister Market! Keep up the great work.. YOU ARE HUGE!..

    Bec's survey

No one is telling you that you have to sell or buy a stock- information is
given to all members- the ultimate decision is the individuals- time span gives an indication of when a stock should hit the target price. It could be sooner or later- the point is not to be "married" to any stock- if you can trade in a six week target you can turn your portfolio over appx. 8.6 times a year increasing the value of your portfolio at a 10 % profit per trade to 86% for the year : at 15% profit a return of appx 130%-
