      Score keeping/rule making duties....

FELLAS!!!! I really like this contest It was the first thread I responded to when I came here.... I'll always play reguardless of the rules.... I DO however understand that the same-old-same-old gets boring sometimes.... I would be very happy to pass the score keeping duties to another palyer at the end of January. The scorekeeper has always reserved the right to make and establish the rules in the POTW.

Anyone who wishes to take the helm of the POTW starting 02-06-06 please speak up. Of course BillyJoe owns the contest so he might have to bless the situation but that gives you plenty of time to come up with a good set of rules and discuss them with the players if desired.... Plus I'm getting more and more covered up with my various duties and responsibilities outside the $$MM$$ universe.lol.... I could use a break. We could still easily keep the points system in place with a change in scorekeepers. My vision of the "H" factor is not dead just sleeping.hehehhe.... I'll surely awaken it sometime in the future.

Three bucks per share on GOOG still sucks when compared to Webs' score Doug.... You lose.

I confess...I cheated...But my favorite movie quote was Michael Douglas in Wall Street..."Lunch is for Wimps"..And I didn't even have to look that up...Doug

PS...I always say..."Movies are for people without real lives"...I really do say that...I also say that about fictional books...Just the way I am I guess...However, I did like "A Summer Place"...See...there's a soft side to me.

You don't understand.... I need a break. Someone be thinking about taking the job for a while starting 02-06-06. It would help to have portfolio tracking software though. Using mine has saved me alot of time from the old way of scorekeeping. And to keep the number of allowed picks to a minimum helps the scorekeeper too. If someone has Vector-Vest I can tell you how I use "V-V Portfolio Tracker" to keep the score.

                    • A memorable line for me is by Mr. Bernstein in Orson Welles's "Citizen Kane" when he says "It's not so hard to make a lot of money if all you want to do is make a lot of money."

Actually...I have a whole lot of quotes...Many I really do try to live by...The following is not one of them...But I always liked this one that was attributed to infamous Bank Robber Willie Sutton when he was asked why he robbed banks???

He said..."Because that's where the money is"

I think I understand, Lye. You do an excellent job, but keeping score every day really nails ones foot down. You could also consider to cut back on that: publish the opening price for every position, and then the final score. When you find you have too much time, drop in a midweek ranking, or just a rant against someone who thinks he's first.

Other timesavers, ordered from preferable to more time saved:
                            - allow only one stock or cash
                            - allow only holdings from sometime Monday through Friday close
                            - allow only holdings from Monday open through Friday close

I realise that the last two and especially the last hurt TAers much more than a B&H type like me, but for me it's like "whatever it takes to salvage the POTW".

                            Regards,

                              Lye,
No big deal but if I have a chance to beat the, "sitting in cash and playing it safe Vulcan", then I must do what I must do. Here is my raw data and time of sales screen for OIH on 1/17/06 @ 9:00:07 AM. Also as posted last night sell OIH at the open today and buy ELN - long at the open today. Thanks Lye. I was also thinking that a few of us each week could take one or two days of keeping score and posting the results for that day to take the burden off of you for awhile. You've done a spectacular job at creating a monster of a POTW and I for one don't want to see it go down the drain. I'm up to my ears in work running two business operations and will make some time to keep it going as you have it running now. How about if we make it so that the guy running it gets a bonus each week for running it. Say .5 % or 1 % but not until I take my turn and not until you finish your term. LOL.
