Congrats to your wife on the award, and to you on that mighty fine pick. (Not to mention Micky ... )

p.s. I'm unfamiliar with "British Creole." I thought they were all French. In terms of international sophistication, I've led a rather sheltered life.

There's all different types of Creoles...I think that basically Creole means blend...Actually, she is a Carribean Creole of British descent.

Thanks for the congrats...But she didn't win any award...she's just going...her boss probably did though.

          Caribbean Creoles

In the Caribbean region, the term Creole is used to describe anyone, regardless of race or ethnicity, who was born and raised in the region. It also refers to the syncretism of the various cultures (African, French, British and Spanish among others) which influenced the area. This is also referred to as the creolization of society "due to its ability to suggest some of the complex sociocultural issues also involved in the process"

Web addy's are not case-sensitive...However, I see TheGoJi.net is available.

Geez...I thought you were a Tibetan Creole.

Me...If we must be labeled...I'm Californian...with a bit of Irish, German and English thrown in.

Sort of funny...and a rather looooong story which I won't bore everyone with...But in the 90's my Dad got on this kick that he wanted to join the Son's of the American Revolution...Guess you have to prove some direct lineage to somebody who fought in it...My Grandmother had left a lot of ancestry stuff but he hit a dead end in the 1790's...But he ran into this woman...His 7th cousin on my Grand Daddy's side along the way. Now she had info back to the 1680's in England...But they didn't come over till the early 1800's...Anyway, I don't think they let you in if your ancestors fought for the other side.

This woman must be pretty amazing...or bored to death...She has a database of over 25,000 people...But she includes people that I would hardly consider relatives...e.g. she would add everyone from my wife's family...In fact, she'd include everyone from my first wife's family in her database...Doug

Uh oh ... don't get me started on the genealogy thing, or I'll get so wound up I won't be able to stop. I'm able to qualify for the S.A.R. on any one of at least a half-dozen direct ancestors. In fact, after persoanlly tracing all my lines about as far as is reasonably possible, I discovered that every single one of them was already here in America prior to the Revolution. (I've got about 7,500 people in my database.) The only one I can't prove is a William Miller in east Tennessee about 1800, and his parents may well have been here prior to the War too, but I can't be sure. The more common the name, the more difficult it is to trace the line. One of my ancestors came to Jamestown from London in about 1620 and was one of the survivors of the infamous Indian massacre of 1622 (or I wouldn't be here.) Maybe he wasn't home that day.

I had the genealogy bug really bad a few years back. I had to severely curtail it, because it can very easily eat up enormous amounts of time.
