I have 22 consecutive profitable trades of 15% or better. How is this possible? Every day there are hundreds of stocks setting new highs, no matter what happens in the overall market. Many of these stocks are still at very reasonable valuations. Afraid of buying stocks at their highs? Think of it this way: a new high is really a future floor for companies with solid financial underpinnings. Quantitative momentum modeling makes it easy to identify stocks that can continue this upward momentum trend. Why does this happen? It's really very simple..ask me about what investors and cows have in common. I am $$$ MR. MARKET $$$. I AM HUGE!!! Bring me your finest meats and cheeses. You can join in on the fun. Thanks Ski! I've been holding it for a while, and I know that it's also a Poorman, and former $$MM$$ pick. Your trade gives me a triple confirmation that it's good to be in.
Rob, LOL! That's right. I need to take up a second language. So much for me being fancy putting a $ in the word "cashola"
I thought it was a Federal offense now to post anything in a language other than English???

Congrats Billyjoe on your fantastic victory, and congrats to Pete H, for another solid performance, further cementing your overall HUGENESS. Both of you beat up my AMLN with your double TDWEPs!
How do you make your picks? As everyone knows how I do It, I throw darts and this Is how I do that During the week I look at various papers when I take my bride shopping [To cheep to buy them.]Then watch CNBC watch Cramer read the message boards etc. etc. Then I choose 20 names put them on a board and throw the dart Now how do you decide on your pick?By the way Doug Is starting to run away with this contest 9 winners out of 10. So maybe this will help me, Please Mr. Rob may I have JDSU this week please, thank you Mr. Rob.Hope we all have a good week and the market was not playing games with us last week.By the way I'm banking on you Doug and buying your pick this week I think your the real thing.
Billyjoe, congratulations! Pete and Jiesen, good job!
I'll stick to CELL as with all the jumping up and down, it still hasn't jumped from my screen.
The POTW+, with special K factor, scored a resounding victory (+1.1%) over my Mechanical Fund (-0.2%), and the POTW plain (-0.3%). The points scored total 8 : 9 : 10, respectively. That is rather neck to neck. The percentage totals are in my Mechanical Fund thread.
There is a new Top10 for the POTW+, thank you Jiesen: Pete H., DMK, Dakat, Jim S., IIC, Photon, Ski, Spike, Jiesen, Gator. New kids on the block are Dakat, Ski and Gator. They replace Lye, Micky and Sowers.

Karel

And the competition starts to heat up. I certainly feel better now that I'm back where I belong. I'm taking aim on a few spots higher so watch your back guys because here comes Seabiscut. I can feel the air thickening and the competition saying I want to be in that top 10 grouping. Ok so let's bring it on guys. POTW, VTP and the Goji forever. SsSsSsSsSs.....!!!!
Rob I will go with JSDA long for next week, I would also like to congratulate Ski for making a great pick! the flaming brain will be pulling for Wire to really make a move. until then everybody go to starbuxks and buy a soda-
Mr. Rob...I need a rule clarification. What if LYE picked BRK-A long...Would I be permitted to pick BRK-B long at the same time??? Seems like they move pretty much in tandem %-wise.
Thx...Doug
P.S. Can we pick warrants?
Doug, that's a great point you brought up- but I would have to say that BRKA and BRKB are actually different stocks. Same company, yes, and on your scale, they are nearly identical. But consider the POTW scale of just a week:
There is enough difference there to make it interesting. And there is in fact a fundamental difference in the shares, in that A's have a 200x advantage over the B's in voting power, much more than the 30x they're worth earnings-wise compared to the B's. If this voting advantage (if Buffett dies, or in some other way relinquishes his controlling stake in the company) ever gets assigned any market value, the A's could very well outperform the B's over a short period (say, a week).
But for the other question, no, I don't think warrants should count, since this is a stock contest, not options, warrants, commodities (hey, do you think I could get my house listed on the NYSE?), or other investment vehicle contest... just my opinion, though.
Congrats Billyjoe on your fantastic victory, and congrats to Pete H, for another solid performance, further cementing your overall HUGENESS. Both of you beat up my AMLN with your double TDWEPs!
Dakat and Jim, won't you guys please come back to the POTW? You are both HUGE!!! It'd be a shame to see two of the top four fade away into the sunset... Plus, Karel needs you for his POTW+ portfolio.
And Pete, I'm going to have to start buying your picks, dude. 74% gain in a quarter is enough to make anyone HUGE beyond belief.
Mad props also to DMK, Doug, Photon, Ski and Spike, who all outpicked me. I accidentally ranked today's results by %Gain instead of %Gain/#Weeks (Special K) but the only difference is Doug got put ahead of Ski and Photon. In light of Doug's perfect POTW attendance, however, I'm letting this one stand.
