                          Way to Go Webs

'Ya know...I can handle coming in last in the contest...but I'll tell 'ya...CNTY was the stupidist real trade I've made this year. Not because I bot it...But because I did not sell it at my stop point. I think I had a bout of temporary insanity or something.

My sell point after the first day was 9.35. I paid 9.85...it did go way down that day but it came back and closed strong...then I was 1.06 up a few days later...then it pulled back...then EPS and announcements came out on Monday...For some "wacko" reason I held on(and there were plenty of opps to get out w/ a reasonable loss) I held on and sold in the 8.30's. I was moderately heavy in it in my short term account.

But, big blunders happen once in a while. I believe the "key" is to not get all upset about a big mistake. On Monday night I said to myself that I intend to get it all back by Thursday...not by taking big chances, but by simply trading my regular way. Well, I did it...As of yesterday I was green in that account for the week by making regular $$$ amount trades(some are more $$$ than others based on my plan)...and today was pretty good as I lost a little on ABLE but I made $1.82 sh on PRAA.

Anyway, I would hardly call this week a stellar week...but it was good in that I didn't panic...there are commonly 2 things that happen when traders make a big mistake(or a series of mistakes)...I've been guilty of both myself in the past...1) They reduce their trading amounts...in which case they miss opportunities...2) They start trading larger $$$ to try and get it back quick...Rarely does either way work IMO...The whole point is "Don't let mistakes get under your skin"...IIC

I've been out of the POTW contest for awhile, but I'm going to submit back to back entries this time.

AMHC: Recently had an all time high. Its in a leading industry. Health care companies are attractive in uncertain economic times because they are non-cyclical. From a website I read:
"AMHC is a player in disease management, a rapidly growing industry that is driven both by demographics and by legislative changes in the Medicare program. Disease management is an art and a science that is complementary to acute medical procedures and applies to the care of chronic illnesses such as diabetes, coronary artery disease, kidney disease and osteoporosis, among others. American Healthways works with patients to make them better informed about their condition, more motivated to participate in their own care, and more cooperative in regard to their prescribed treatment protocol. Managing the treatment lowers the costs to everyone and prevents hospital re-admissions, which are the main cost culprit in disease treatment. In short, the company profits from the trend towards cutting costs by limiting access to treatments that at least the insurance industry and some Federal programs consider non-essential. Statistics show that approximately 70% of health care outlays in this country are generated by just 10% of the patient population, so HMO organizations are highly focused on "managing" that 10%. Furthermore, patients with chronic conditions are in this group because statistically they are more likely to become lax in regard to their own care. American Healthways provides a win-win in this particular situation, improving patient care by encouraging more and earlier treatment for this group, which reduces long-term costs to the healthplan providers."

Why buy right now? Revenue growth up 32% last quarter. Recent all time high. Net Income up 60%. Eight consecutive quarters where client numbers increased over 100% quarter over quarter. With a 19% short interest, it will provide plenty of fuel when the shorts cover.

                              Second pick: INSP
Another pick from a hot group. Online advertising IS the future, and the future is starting RIGHT NOW. Just look a google's and yahoo's recent earnings reports and investor's response to them. Business is booming. Infospace operates Dogpile.com and WebCrawler.com, two well known search engines. Total paid searches during the fourth quarter increased 32%, while revenue per search shot up 27%. While sales for the search and directory division increased 66%, sales in the company's mobile unit soared 250% (due to new web enabled cell phones and faster 3rd generation cell phone networks). In 2004, sales rose 89% to $249 million, and profits rang the register at $82 million, compared to a loss a year-earlier. Excluding a one-time gain on the sale of the company's Payment Solutions business, earnings came in at $1.40 per share. Over the past four quarters InfoSpace has beat the Street by an average of 68%.

Wither either of these two perform well in the next week or not is not really the point. For me, they are great investments because they lead their industries and their industries are leading the markets. Both have incredible financial fundamentals and in my opinion are the cream of the crop in the markets where there is no rising tide that lifts poorer stocks.
                              Buy Low
                              Sell High
