Park, if you take over the scorekeeping duties beginning Tues., Jan. 2, you can modify the rules however you see fit. As of Fri., Dec. 29 close, I am no longer the POTW scorekeeper.

Markets are closed Mon., Jan. 1, for New Year's Day.

The contest needs a scorekeeper. No one has yet volunteered.

Park, dude, sorry but I'm going to have to call you down again. You're only allowed two round trips in one week. The good news is that you made 0.28% on LBTYA, which, when added to your earlier gain of 3.34%, gives you a final total for the week of 3.62%. If you could do that every week, in a short time you'd be so rich it would be absolutely decadent.

Week 50 (11), Final Result—“Sailing to the Gold”

One must never underestimate the ollll' Flying Dutchman, Colossal Karel!!! In a strange, topsy-turvy week, where it seemed like so many stocks were down, yet somehow the major indicies were up, the Dutchman just sailed on smooth waters right up to a 5.23% gain and the gold medal!!!

Looks like another WNR (read "winner") from the Peanut Gallery!! No swan dives this week, eh, Mr. Goober Peas? Well, maybe a miniature swan dive, but losing 2.79% on the final day still left Mr. Pittsburgh Peas with a mighty fine 4.68% for the week!!

Judging by the looks of Rob's Notorious Neon Spaghetti Chart, it seems that along about Wednesday the Whiz Kid and Mr. Peas decided they'd tango in tandem, both moving two steps forward, then three steps back. But the Whiz Kid put on a fine display of stock-picking prowess nonetheless, tallying another 3.65% by the close of the session, and doing so on the same horse that threw him last week! Ride 'em Whiz-o! Ride 'em!

And how about a nice round of applause for Park, River, and Ray, the beer-drinking dart-thrower, who all three beat the indicies this week, which only goes to show that ... umm ... well, I don't know, but I'm sure there's SOMEthing that it only goes to show!

The cumulative average total amongst the active players took a pretty meaty blow to the bread basket, losing more than 2%, but we'll straighten that out next week won't we, gang?

Well, well, well... It seems that my efforts were not enough this week to gain the gold. Here I am, thinking that everyone wants to have a $$$HUGE$$$ peanuts, when out from under Whizzy and I comes colossal Karel and his longtime favorite, PCCC. Rob, I volunteer to take over the scorekeeping duties beginning Jan 2. You've done an outstanding job. I'll have big shoes to fill. I'll hold onto the reins of this conastoga as long as I possibly can. Hopefully the crossing of the next year will go smoothly.

Hey, that's great, Peanuts! Better start boning up on your spreadsheet skills, dude! You're gonna need 'em! As far as "filling my shoes" goes, I'm sure you'll bring your own set of talents to the table, and everybody's got their own "style," so to speak. You'll no doubt have a different angle or two that will probably be interesting. What you all have been subjected to over the past however-long-it's-been, 10 months or so, has just been my own particular way of looking at and formatting the contest. Thanks for volunteering, Peanuts. I'll be looking forward to your updates.
