Congrats Rob, Gator, Gwhiz, Jblaze and IIC for a fine performance in the POTW this year, and thanks again, Rob, for keeping the show going in such fine fashion.

I guess it goes to show you just how tough it is to beat the market on a consistent basis. I was hoping to beat it with AMLN, or at least finish in the green, but alas, it was not to be. But I'm not alone, as only 4 contestants out of around 50 managed to beat the indices. Even Doug's solid 15% gain lost to the Dow's 18%. And only 2 of those people did it for an entire year's worth of POTW play. Congrats again, Rob and Gator... you two are

    HUGE!!!

I find it very ironic that Meta Financial, ticker CASH, is doing so well this week.

If there was ever a time to mess up a CA$H entry, this week would have been ideal. Sometimes mistakes can be good, too.

Some position jockeying today, but the leaders remain the same. Let's see what tomorrow's market brings...

                  1= long
                  -1= short

                  closed positions:
                  none

                  GOLD: Peter Hansen
                  SILVER: riverbabe
                  BRONZE: Karel

Curious as to why you don't sort in order of highest + percentage to lowest - percentage. It seems easier to get the whole picture in that order. I see that you are doing it alphabetically by nickname.

I track the players through Yahoo! Unfortunately, no matter how many times I make the suggestion to them, there is no sorting function for the portfolios. At the end of the week, I'll do something different, but the day to day stuff is going to be like this. It's easiest this way, for now.

I really hate when my ideas are ignored when I send them to the company. I swear, they must never read the suggestions. Either that, or a Chimp is reading everything and making the decisions.

                          Peanuts,

Thanks for taking over the contest. I appreciate all of the hard work.

I use Yahoo to track MrMarket Top 5 Stocks from the dumps.

You can "rope off" the cells in Yahoo, copy, then paste into an Excel worksheet.
From there you can sort to your hearts content.

I was thinking the same thing with Excel. He could also use MSN Money Portfolio manager to set up a portfolio of all the players and their picks and it will record everything, including the daily price changes and percentage changes, for you, and then copy and paste the results to the POTW. It takes a little time to set it up but once done it would be a big timesaver for him an everything would be in one place.

uh ski, I don't see much of a difference between what you said and what I currently do with Yahoo!

For now, the daily portfolio tracking is simply a screen shot of the Yahoo! portfolio. I save the screen shot and then just paste the imageshack link to this thread. It is really easy for me to do this, and it is the fewest steps involved to get the information posted.

Sorry that I've lowered the bar that Rob has established... keep up the suggestions and tips... I can use them!

Thanks, yes I've tried, but when I rope-off cells and paste into excel from Yahoo!, I get crazy information that I never roped off in the first place... I could never understand that. It does this with my other portfolios and it is really annoying. Also, I hate those stupid red and green arrows... what a waste of bandwidth
