I'm sitting here watching "First Blood" on AMC.... Rambo just killed a wild pig with his bare hands and a knife tied to a stick.... Hey!.... Here's a true story about killing something with your bare hands....
I shot an eleven point buck on a dead run @ about 250 yards three years ago. I tracked him for about a mile.... At first the blood trail was sparatic.... then as he slowed I started to find large amounts of blood and even pieces of bone.... I eventially found him in a dry creek bed laying down, he had lost so much blood that he could hardly hold his head up. I layed my rifle against a tree and climbed down into the gully.... I pulled out my hunting knife.... My plan was to stick his throat and bleed him instead of shooting him again and risk damaging any more meat (You see I had done this before).... Well as I approached him and started to grab his horns he lunged at me with what life he had left.... hit me squarely in the chest with his horns. I dropped my knife and grabbed him by the antlers and climbed on his back.... I had a smaller pocket knife in my pocket which I grabbed.... It was hard to hold him down and I weigh 300 pounds.... I forced his head sideways and I cut his throat about five times.... I held that SOB down till he finally died.... I remember when I got off that buck's back I was covered with blood and my legs were shaking like I had been in a bar room fistfight (I have done that before too.lol). One of his brow tines actually went thru my shirt and thermal undershirt and deeply puntured the skin on my chest, I was brused pretty badly too.... I'm lucky he was so weak.... and that he didn't hit me about 10 inches lower.... I could have died next to him in that creek bed. I have to laugh when I think about what the Bedford Bulletin Newspsper headlines would have said if he had actually killed me.lol.... One thing's for sure.... I'll never approach a wounded deer again.
btw... Rambo just blew up the town.jejejeBEEF!... it's whats for dinner!

POTW 6-Week Standings
In case anyone's interested, here are the standings as of the end of the sixth week in the POTW for 2006. I believe the figures are right, but if there are any incorrect entries, I would welcome a correction.
At the very top of each column is the average of everyone's scores for the week, including the 5% penalties for those who failed to show for the week. The Avg column computes the average gain/loss for all weeks. The reason some players (including yours truly) have blanks is becuse at that point they had not yet entered the game, and so while they are not subject to the weekly 5% penalty, still their total gains/losses are averaged based on the number of weeks (in this case 6). Lyehopper agreed that this would be an equitable way to figure it.
If some of the more recent newcomers are saying, "Five percent penalty? Hey! Wha? Wait! Who ... ? Oh, man!" I can only refer you to the rules, as we have them.
The color coded weekly results are there to quickly locate the gold silver and bronze positions for the week.
Here are the official results for the prior weeks, against which you may check the above figures. As I've said, if there are any discrepancies, please tell me.
Week 1
Week 2
Week 3
Week 4
Week 5
Week 6
Actually I put this spreadsheet together in order to give it to Lyehopper, but I haven't seen his instant messenger on line all weekend, and I didn't send it via email because he doesn't check it often enough. (I'm the same way.) So I'm posting the results this time.Last edited by Rob; 02-13-2006, 07:33 AM.—Rob

Unbelievable Video
You know those high-speed police chases shown on TV every now and then? Well they don't always end peacefully or without injuries. This is an unbelievable video of one such incident--but be forewarned, it is not for the squeamish or faint of heart. I've never seen anyone get tossed so far from a moving vehicle.
Speaking of hunting, I guess y'all heard about V.P. Cheney blasting his hunting buddy. Man this is the kind of stuff Jay Leno lives for.—Rob

Congratulations, Spike! Huge win! I would have liked to post earlier, but I am without an Internet connection now and for the coming days, if not weeks, I fear. We'll see.
Lye, I am still long CMCO!
