  • Research Ideas?

    Hi Everyone,

I'm a second year MBA student. Over the years I've exhaused just about every research idea I've had in mind.

I'm looking to see if anyone has any topic they have ever wanted researched, but never had the time or the resources to do it. The range of topics is unlimited, so feel free to suggest anything from fundamental analysis to technical analysis.

I'll be sure to post my final paper when I've completed it.

    Thanks,
    Chris

    Here's an idea

    Chris,

Please consider doing a paper on the impact of the declining value of the US currency upon the US economy and the US stock markets.

    Thank you.

Well...my finance professors insisted that stocks followed a random walk, whereas I always had a notion that there was some momentum in stock picking.

So...why don't you find stocks with 90% or better correlation coefficients for a 12 month period and backtest and see if they do indeed outperform the market?

You'd be putting $$$MR. MARKET$$$ to the test, so to speak. Make sure you give the cute coeds the link to my beach pictures.

        ChrisZXWJ,
As an opposite idea to Mr.Market. Check out the mighty that have fallen in the past and see if negative momentum continues. At least they can't fall more than 100%.

although as any GMSV shareholder can tell you: after a stock has fallen 99%, there's no guarantee that it won't fall another 99%!

            Jiesen,
Remember what goes down may also go up. Although GMSV potentially could go down 100% it could go up 200%. By the way did you see the awesome earnings GMSV announced after the market closed?

                Jiesen,
I want to buy some GMSV product. Where would I go to make my big purchase?

oh please don't. if you buy one, it may send my short position down a few thousand percent.

actually, the company isn't too far away from where I am, and apparently they're now in the trucking business, since according to the CEO, there's a lot of demand for hauling stuff around in the hazmat business. sheer brilliance!

                    Jiesen,
I get it, GMSV is in many different diverse ventures, sort of like a mini Berkshire Hathaway.

I'd be interested in a study that compares speed ratings among different racetracks; e.g. What is the correlation of SR's between Calder and Lousiana Downs?

                      I'm serious...I could never figure that out...IIC
