EBAY 2 for 1 Stock Split February 16.

    Hello all,

In addition, eBay's Board of Directors has approved a two-for-one split of all outstanding shares of the company's common stock, payable February 16, 2005 to stockholders of record on January 31, 2005. These results have not been adjusted to reflect this stock split.

Will this be an Opportunity? Comments.

    EBAY a DEAD DOG

Here's a few facts about EBAY.

    1. Revenue is falling.
    2. Growth is slowing.
    3. It has a $60 BILLION market cap, for $3 Billion in sales! (That means it is over-priced by more than 20 fold).
    4. It has saturated the US market, with not much room for growth.
    5. It has not been able to successfully penetrate overseas markets. It left Japan, too much competition. It's president in India recently arrested because someone was selling porn on EBAY. It is struggling in China with competition from Sina and Yahoo.
    6. One third of its business is art pieces and luxury items that people do not buy in recessionary times. If we have a recession (the market is telling us that we will have one in the next six-nine months) EBAY will be disproportionately affected.
    7. It is the next TASR, meaning the stock will split and drop from $128 to $16.

In short, not for my money.
