NB, where ya been? Have not seen ya in action as of late! Hope ya doing well!!

I am doing well, but I have had to be away from the office (and thus, my stock quotes!) all day every day for awhile. I miss the action! I'll be out of the office for options expiration, and that's tough! Going to miss a chance to play some tight calls.

I did buy some CCJ Wednesday at $69.98, and got a $5 pop today. Now, can it hold it? I also picked up some GM under $20, and I am looking for GM to hold that $20 level through options expiration. I have some FDG and PBR that also will expire tomorrow. If I were around, I might look to trade out of those positions, but since I am not, I'll take my profit and go on (provided the stock doesn't collapse tomorrow).

Canadian Tax refund

Want your tax money back? You have to ask. Here's how:

I was finally able to speak to a real person in the tax refund department yesterday at the Canadian Revenue Agency. Although every ? I asked, her response was "they decide the refund on a case by case basis"; this was the procedure.

The form is NR7-R (application for refund of non-resident part XIII tax withheld).

The backup that must be attached is a copy of your brokerage statement showing the actual withholding of the foreign tax for each incident during the calander year (yes you can file this for 2004 also). Please send in a cover letter stating you are a full time US citizen Please list the royalty trust stock's full name and #of shares owned. According to the agent, each CRT has a special defination and they will determine if the CRT is applicable for the refund. You will receive a letter from the agency with their decision.

It was 1987. At a lecture the other day they were playing an old news video of Lt.Col. Oliver North testifying at the Iran-Contra hearings during the Reagan Administration.

There was Ollie in front of God and country getting the third degree, but what he said was stunning.
He was being drilled by a senator; "Did you not recently spend close to $60,000 for a home security system?"

Ollie replied, "Yes, I did, Sir."

The senator continued, trying to get a laugh out of the audience, "Isn't that just a little excessive! ?"

"No, sir," continued Ollie.

"No? And why not?" the senator asked.

"Because the lives of my family and I were threatened, sir."

"Threatened? By whom?" the senator questioned.

"By a terrorist, sir" Ollie answered.

"Terrorist? What terrorist could possibly scare you that much?"

"His name is Osama bin Laden, sir" Ollie replied.

At this point the senator tried to repeat the name, but couldn't pronounce it, which most people back then probably couldn't. A couple of people laughed at the attempt. Then the senator continued. Why are you so afraid of this man?" the senator asked.

"Because, sir, he is the most evil person alive that I know of", Ollie answered.

"And what do you recommend we do about him?" asked the senator.

"Well, sir, if it was up to me, I would recommend that an assassin team be formed to eliminate him and his men from the face of the earth."

The senator disagreed with this approach, and that was all that was shown of the clip.


By the way, that senator was Al Gore.

It's given me 2 from 2 now, for a total of +60%. The first set up was intented to be a quick daytrade, based on EW merely looking for a 5th impulse. That turned into a swing over a couple weeks and produced +25%. This second setup was channel/pattern based and targeted channel resistance. That turned into a swing and has taken longer to produce this recent +35%.
