Recession is well on the way, I am sorry to say. That is still my take, my friend.

Got to thinking that when CD rates were flying higher back In the 80's stocks were tumbling. At this time the banks are now offering CDs at 5.5% rates so time to be carefull with your portfolios.

              Amzn

Short AMZN. $15 price target .

Dow Theory says that AMZN is going to lose an equal amount to today's fall. I bought the $25 puts for $.55.

                Graphics Size and Appearance, etc.

New-born, I like your charts. I like your tireless efforts in the various threads. I like your zeal for technical indicators. Please, by all means, keep it up. The only thing I would like to offer purely as a friendly suggestion (two things really) is this: It would be so much nicer if your graphics were less than 700 pixels in width so as not to screw up the forum layout; also, it would be more pleasing to the eye if you would use the [Print Screen] key to capture your graphics rather than that HandySnap tool that not only plasters its unsightly logo all over your image, but also diminishes the quality of the image by reducing the palette. For instance, which of these two sets of volume bars looks better to you?

Like I said, this is a suggestion only. It won't hurt my feelings a bit if you disregard it completely.

Shoot, there's even an easier way than using the [Print Screen] key: when you get the image you want, just position your pointer over the image, then hold down the left mouse button and "drag" it into MS Paint or your favorite graphics editing program, and go to town on it.

                  Rob,
When it comes to computer art, you da man. Now what if I told you:
                  1. I already keep my images to 700 pixels wide, (as far as I know) and
                  2. When I use stockcharts and its annotations function, it will not let me
                  capture the chart to paint.

Can you point to a place where my chart is wider than 700 pixels? I just checked my last chart on Lye's thread and it was 683 pixels wide. If I messed up, I'd like to fix it ASAP. Are you sure it isn't Ski you want to talk to? And yes, handysnap is ugly. No doubt about it. Now I am going to try to implement your suggestions right now, and maybe I am wrong. I do thank you for the suggestions. No, I do not want to ruin people's threads by making extra wide charts. Yes, I do want better looking charts for the reading public to 'enjoy' (if it is even possible for the reading public to enjoy what I post).

So I'll post a new chart on Hot Pick and see what happens--right now!
                  And thank you.

                    Rob,
I am not able to capture a chart on Stockcharts that is in the "annotations" mode. Can you? I can only do it with handysnap.

If you have another suggestion, I'll try it

This one is 887 pixels wide. Whoops ... looks like you removed it.

Also, yes if you're in an applet window the drag method may not work. but you can still capture the image using the [Print Screen] key and then in your graphics program do an EDIT > PASTE from the tool bars ... or else try Right-click > Paste (as new image) ... or maybe even a simple CTRL-V key combination might do the trick.

You will get your whole screen's image, which you can then crop to exactly what you want.

The only application I've run into recently that will not allow you to capture the image with the [Print Screen] is a video running in Windows Media Player. (That's why I keep an ancient copy of an old media player on my system. I can play the same video and get screen caps from it if I want. )

Thanks, Rob. I deleted the offending chart.
I'll now try your new suggestions. Thanks! Look for a new chart here soon.

                          How's this, Rob?

Okay, how's this? My computer says that using the prntscrn key "will result in the loss of some color info."

Ahh, so THAT's what's going on. Sounds like you either have too many applications running or else not enough RAM.

Here's a cap I just did using Print Screen and MS Paint. The way you have to crop using that particular program is a little clunky, but it works. As you can see, the colors look just the way you would expect them to.

I am going to try again.

Let me try this again. I have about 5 programs running at once. I have tons of RAM.

                              Does this look any better?
                              I am using Imageshack.

NB, well the color thing, IMO, is not as distracting as the excessive width or that logo. I just thought that as long as I was "broaching" the topic anyway, I might well as go for the whole enchilada. Hmm ... now I'm gettin' hungry for some comida mexicana.
