Kicker Signal

How do you get a signal to buy these bottom lurking stocks? Me, I am looking for a double bottom, an inverted head and shoulders, an ugly double bottom, or some such signal. What is a "kicker" signal?

Because URBN has no double bottom, no inverted, etc, I wouldn't take a long here, but expect URBN to be making a bear flag.

A KICKER signal is the strongest of all the major candlestick signals. Its formed by 2 candles....the first candle opens and moves in the direction of the current trend and the second candle opens at eh same open of the previous day, a gap open and continues in the oppposite direction of the previous days candle.however, if the next days price gaps back the other way...get out of the trade.....

so the criteria
1. the first days open and the second days open are the same or gaps beyond the previous open...the price movment is in the opposite direction from the opening price
2. the trend has no relevance in a kicker signal
3. the price never retraces into the previous days trading range.

signal enhancements
1. the longer the candles the more dramatic the price reversal
2. opening from yesterdays close to yesterdays open already is a gap....additionally gapping away from the previous days open further enhances the reversal.

of course...a kicker in a overbought or a oversold area can mean different things.

How can today's range never retrace into yesterday's range if the opens are the same? Unless you mean that the opens do not constitute part of the daily range...in which case, you described a Separating Lines candlestick pattern.

If the open is part of the daily range, the only way it can work is if today gaps open higher (or lower); today's day's range is opposite the direction of the open; and the low (high) never enters yesterday's range. In an uptrend, you just described a Shooting Star candlestick.

By your own definition, URBN was not a "kicker." On Thursday it gapped open higher and closed much higher; price movement was in the same direction as the opening price.

doesnt have to open the same as the previous price that is just is just minimal requirements...its better if it opens higher as i believe it states in signal enhancements. Not sure why u included yesterdays low, high, close in a trading range with the previous days but oh well

Thanks to everyone who prayed and expressed concern for my father in law. It looks like he's going to make it, although it was very close on Friday night late. They had to open him up a second time. Right now he is just one huge bruise, as they did do a six way bypass. But it is better than the alternative.

Glad to hear it NBB...My father went in for a routine checkup back about 5 years ago...The tests they did came out OK...At the end the Dr. asked my Dad if he had any other concerns...He mentioned that he seemed to be short of breath sometimes...So they ran some other tests...

A couple days later they tried some stents(???)...didn't work...So my Dad had to have quintuple bypass a couple days later...He wanted to wait a few weeks because my sister and I had given them a 15 day cruise for their 50th and they were scheduled to leave...Drs. told him he was a time bomb for a heart attack and he couldn't wait. Fortunately we had bot the travel insurance...

Anyway, he had the surgery and all went well...So they went on the cruise the next year...Best to you and your family...Doug
