  • Question RE: Portfolio management

I do the stock picking for both my wife's and my own Roth IRA accounts. We have a good portion in mutual funds, in which I tried not to overlap as much as possible (Ie., I have a mid-cap fund, she has a small cap and so on).

I also obviously purchase individual stocks, and 11-14 is usually consider the number of stocks you want to own at any one time for diversification. My question is, would you recommend 14 for EACH of our accounts even though I'm doing all the picking, or seven stocks for each of us? Something in the middle?

Depends on a lot of things...Your goals, time available, $$$ amounts, age, risk tolerance, other income...but most of all I believe you should trade the way you feel most comfortable...Best, Doug(IIC)
