I know amusement parks are facing troubling times. High gas prices , dwindling disposable income etc. , but there may be money to be made on this one. Operating 39 amusement and water parks in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and Europe PKS is overextended sitting on a mountain of debt. Although they actually made money last quarter, their long term outlook is bleak. Having sold the former Geauga Lake Park to Cedar Fair (FUN) for pennies on the dollar several months ago, they've got problems and probably will be acquired by a competitor. Priced under 7 , a buyout could bring about a quick profit for
shareholders. If they remain independent this baby will be going down the toilet
within the next 12 months. In a last ditch effort to hang on they just announced plans for a world record sized roller coaster "Goliath", in Georgia . At 200 feet tall and traveling 70 mph, this might just be bait for prospective suitors.
