Any winner is good. I was replying to the broad statement regarding using stop losses. I know you are buy and hold until your ship comes home an your successes prove that patience with fundamentally sound companies with great earnings will prevail over the course of time. Just how much time is certainly a factor.
I certainly wasn't knocking anyone, just the broad statement about stop losses and keeping your mind open to anything that may make you a better trader. When you made CMTL your choice I was happy to see that your choice kind of backed up my feelings and if you go back and read a few of my posts regarding CMTL at that period of time you'll see that I made some pretty nice gains on the stock on both sides.

Of course there is more than one way to skin a cat.

In my opinion, you are not holding a stock too long if your position in the stock outperforms the overall market during the same period.

Then again there are those of us (me not being one) who think that they can time the overall market when they trade. So I guess for them, outperforming the market is not a good benchmark.

It's ok to "suck up" to Mr Market and he is indeed HUGE and due any "sucking" he can procure .... But .... If you are a novis investor (as your handle implies) Please be carefull and do your own research. You should also learn some TA skills to time your buys and sells.

Did you buy BEL in Jan 2004 @ $21+ .... Well neither did I, but if I had bought it back then, I'd have sold it off on 2-13-04 when it gapped down and violated the 50 day line.... LONG before it went in to freefall.... It sits, floundering @ under $3 today.... That's what you call TUITION! Of course I know some fellow class mates who were Sr.'s for 3 years running and never graduated.lol .... Tuition paid, party fun, but education useless.

I'm glad you got the bounce on the earnings release and better yet that you took the gains while you had them. Only one day separated the targeted realization and the gap down this morning. I saw this morning on the Briefing.com newswire that some brokerage firm downgraded the stock even after yesterdays superb earnings release. Monday morning would be a good time to be watching for another bounce up after the kneejerk reaction to the anal-ysts downgrade today. Anyway it's all good whenever you grab a winner.

              Got Mine Today

Was a little "late to the dance" in buying but got my 15% today and am out at 41.41. Another Mr Market winner for me. Gosh these winners sure are a lot of fun!
This is my 3rd ride on this pony for a win. Might even saddle it up again later if it starts looking ready!

                Congrats Gatorman,

CMTL sure was a fun one to ride for 15%+... I did it twice myself! I bet RIO will be just as fun to sell in 4 weeks or so.

                  History is a Great Teacher

I did not get a chance to get into RIO Friday but will be looking to take a position very soon.
If we learn anything at all from history, it is that Mr Market picks are very solid and RIO looks like a wonderful opportunity.

                    CMTL - ascending triangle

I think CMTL is developing an ascending triangle that may pop up soon.
                    What do you think?

Wow - Great day today. I know most of you have taken your 15% and moved on. For those of you still interested in this one, any cause for the 10% pop today? I can't find any news.

Rico - It looks like you may have been right about that ascending triangle!

I think I see a pattern developing. I picked CMTL last week for POTW and it flat-lined for the week. However, the week after I pick it, off it goes into the stratosphere. Guess I would be a good contrarian indicator.

Do you think you could pick UNH or HW next week?

Pick them? I might go one better and short both of them.
That way you can put everything you own into them and retire in Tahiti by Christmas!

I am still learning to recognize some patterns and I was lucky enough to be in @38.54.

Seems to me that there is some steam left after Mr. Market sold his stock. See also HANS that has been climbing relentlessly... I also bought HANS after Mr. Market sold it and still made some profits although I sold it to early - just before the earning release. Perhaps we should keep some part of the holdings even after 15% gain and only sell the stocks whenever they show some weaknesses. Just a thought...

You must have bought CMTL call options today. They reported record results, the stock gapped up at the open, you bought the calls and *** BOOM *** the stock tanks.

Please warn me in the future!!! I'll never get to Tahiti at this rate.
