WIRE still looks like a great short...

If the DOW breaks the 10,869 support, I will short this loser. I'm liking an entry point of $38.50 at this time.

        Any more short ideas?

I'll have to swing by Books-A-Million this week and pick up the Monday IBD for the latest top 100 list. There's bound to be some future losers in there...Jeeeejejejeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

          Webs,
How about some Vulcan theory. Is it as easy to make money shorting in a bad bear market as it is buying long in a roaring bull market ?

Assuming we were to actually experience a major Bear market, I would say yes, but keep in mind that when going long a stock can only go to zero. Not so with short postions...Just think if you sold short at around $20 and the next day the stock price gapped up to $75. You'd have a serious margin call on your hands. So, I guess shorting does have it's own unique problems.

I say the risk is worth the reward. The VTP works just as well either way...

I don't understand why some traders refuse to short stocks. Even Poormans won't short them. It's like they feel guilty about it or something. It's all part of what makes the market work though.

            I personally love shorting. It's fun....in a non-emotional Vulcan way of course.

Because they have a retirement account where you can't short?

I also have a retirement account that won't let me short. That's why I decided to open a seperate brokerage account that gives me that option. Vulcans think of everything...jeeeejejeeejjeeeeee

                        Here's one to short: LVS

I found this the other day looking for a sector that performs well in a down market. This stock has some serious downside to it, fundamentally, imo. It's trading higher than 10x book, with a P/E of 55. And it's a freaking casino. Short it down to 30, is what I say. If the market tanks, it's taking this one with it. If the market rebounds, this one's gonna crash. Either way, there's no way in hell LVS is worth $22B. Also, once it punches through the imaginary line at $60, TA traders (isn't that a 1-2-3 sell signal if it breaks 60?) are going to have a ball sending it down another $10 over just a week or so, I bet.

Anyway, I'm trusting Yahoo's numbers on this one, so please check this out, and if I'm wrong about this, by all means let us know...

once you've mastered longing, why would you bother with shorting?
