According to a friend of mine who majored in geography, it's one of the flatest spots on the earth. They have some unusual weather from time to time especially almost tornado intensity straight line winds. More than once lightening balls would bounce around in the farm house. The old farmer who owned the house lived to about 90 and said he'd seen it happen over the years from the 1920's to 1970's. I'd read about it in books but might have had a heart attack if I'd actually seen those lightening balls. There is a scientific explanation.
What do you suppose would happen if a person were to touch one?
    billyjoe
If they touched one I think they'd be burned beyond recognition.

Geez...Only 5% of the people have actually seen Lightning Balls...Didn't know I was so special http://www.wonderquest.com/ball-lightning.htm

      Doug,
Wow, your report mentioned an area 30 miles southwest of Detroit. That's really close to where the brother in law was , but he was southeast.
I think Lye's cows are involved in a coverup especially if they now are acting uninterested like nothing happened. These animals are no dummies they know more than they let on.

We get a little lightning here in So. Cal...But it's not that great unless you are up in the mountains...I remember when I lived in Texas when I was in 4th Grade...We sometimes got these lightning balls in the sky...They looked real small and they got a bit larger as they seemed to get closer then WHAMO...They would explode with bolts going in all directions.

Also, in the Carib Sea you can see some really good lightning storms.

I'll eagerly await your damage report...Doug(IIC)

When I was out to sea my boat was hit twice by lightning.... both times I had to put out alot of $$ for total re-wireing, all new instruments.. I was on-board during one hit and my hair stood straight up in the air... the hair on my neck stood out. I felt a tingle coming up my legs but that was it. I guess you can ground a boat.. wish my instruments realize that the boat was grounded. I have heard of sailors being thrown off thier boats... I guess I was lucky. I felt like I worked out a bit too hard the next day and that was it. The worst of it all was that loud Bang.. and not being able to focus for a while. Of couse I was out of beer and had to turn to volka to calm my nerves.

I got stuck under a bridge in the middle of a huge thunderstorm last year, in my 17' boat. I had just come back in through the jetties after a day of fishing off the beach. The storm hit about 5 minutes after I got back into the bay...If the storm would have hit 5 minutes earlier, I would have probably capsized and would have ened up treading water until I got rescued. Even worse, if the storm would have hit while I was coming through the pass, I would have ended up being tossed into the jetties, which would have really sucked.

          That's my boat story...

After today's action in the market, I'm not so sure I wouldn't rather be smashed into the jetties.

LMAO... feeling your pain. Only good thing today is ELN and my tax return. But wait, the tax return thingy. Not so good. This means I didnt cash in enought stocks last yr. Ok, the only good thing today was ELN and GE.

trying to down load a pic of a friend of mind who's boat ended up on the rocks during a squall...... living on your boat 2000 miles from home, not good day for him. Calling for help to the Coast guard in Grenada... recieved a answer from the coast guard... the sail boat told the coast guard where he was and the coast guard answers "where is that". The sail boat replied.. right around the corner from you... We were in Grenada and the coast guard who answer the MAY DAY was in Trinadad. Really not a good day for him.
We all had to sit and watch/listen to his boat get pounded on the rocks with about 6-9 ft swells coming in. Dinghy's who tried to help were capsized and pounded on the rocks.

Thinking about it. Today not such a bad day after all.

Is that why you were diving overboard?...That's pretty scary when you are so close to the lightning bolt that it burns off all your clothes...That watch must be a Timex...LOL...IIC

hehehehehe..... I guess I will never live that pic down. See what a few beers in you will do to your thinking. I have tried to find that pic again to put a more "acceptable" pic up for land Lubbers. Not sure who made that watch since it did inplode while on a deep dive. The best dive of my life.. I actually experienced the "narco" feeling and lived to enjoy it. If herion is anything like it, its a good thing I never played with drugs when I was a child.

Can you lead me to that pic place again? I am sure all who cares too have down loaded it for keeps and I can put a nice face pic up and you can put face to body. Not that I am ashame of that pic. I have in on my wall, though it is inverted so it looks like my white tan lines are actually a swim suit. Prob. the one I should of actually posted since I was so balsy to post it anyway.

IIC...... I am happy that you like the pic. Would of hated to get a negative response on it. Just think what that would of done to my ego and how it would affected my stock buying.. I would of prob. been out of the game already.

                      Happy trade day to you.

                                Mr Market Stock Contest 2006

                                Close on 5/19/2006

Mickey is still $$$HUGE$$$ but looks like a race is developing

Another bloody week for the contest pix as some got whacked...But as always there were some bright spots...Karel's CELL bounced +14.8% which puts him back in the thick of things...Stocks54's ELN continues to climb +13.3% for the week and your's truly was up +10.7% w/ IDWK, although I'm still red YTD.

There were a couple of splits so I made adjustments to the opening prices on CELL (6/5) and ACI (2/1). I happened to notice that Karel had not entered CELL till 1/6/06...Too bad for him that he didn't enter Day One (1/3/06).

Our A/D/U for the week was an embarrassing 7/19/0 but our YTD increased to 15/11/0 from 14/12/0 last week as Billyjoe's TLF went green.

Our overall % gain YTD decreased to +7.24% from +11.71% last week as the overall portfolio was -4.0% for the week after going -3.6% the prior week.

Of course...we are still kickin' the cr*p outta the CSSGX which is now only a paltry +2.68% YTD as the CANSLIM Fund has tanked over 11% the past 2 weeks....And now I'm wondering???...Are all the diehard Canslimmers bailing on the Fund? Geez...If they follow the rules and they bot a couple of weeks ago they should have sold at -7%...Right???

I use the open on 1/3/06 for the indices and the close on 1/3/06 for the CSSGX because funds are only priced at eod.
