ECOL looks like a good short right now....

I REALLY do hate to say this.... but I'm ready to short sell ECOL. This is a purely technical call btw....

Now, I have made a lot of money trading ECOL (long) and It's my POTY play.... If I'm not mistaken I'm currently in first place with this stock. HOWEVER! as an esteemed member of the VTP inner circle, I can NOT become emotionally attached to any stock regardless of how badly I want to win a contest.

ECOL's chart is SCREAMING.... SHORT ME PLEASE!!!!

    BEEF!... it's whats for dinner!

Yep Lye, and that failed fuzzy C calls for the bearish bias...only problem is the r/r. That daily gap is solid support in the face of the bearishness. I'd want to see that gap fail before I'd say it's screaming. Right now it's whispering. And if bull takes it over the 22.16 'C' then it's caution shorts... I'd say stalk time until the r/r improves. Good luck if you take it dude!

      P.S really enjoy your thread!

Thanks Spike.... ECOL could turn bullish I guess. Looks like someone just tried to close that upper gap @ 3:00PM.... What do ya make of that Spikefader?

Well, first of all the word "cattle" is plural so it needs no "s" added to it. Now if you just wanted to use a word and add an "s" to it you could have used the singular "cow" and asked me what I feed my "cows" but then that technically would not have covered the whole herd since the term "cow" only refers to mature females.... So the best term is indeed cattle, but with no "s"....

So to answer your question: What do my cattle eat?

Answer: Mostly mixed Grass' (fescue, clover, orchard grass).... That is when the grass is growing (grazing season).... and Hay (which is basically harvested grass) when grass alone is no longer sufficient. I make "dry hay" when the weather permits.... and when it doesn't I make "wrapped haylage" which tends to be pretty high in protein if harvested and wrapped properly (14-18%) I make 4 X 5 foot round bales and I also make enough square bales in late summer to fill my barns out (several thousand bales).... MY cattle are kept on pasture year round. I graze about two to four head per acre (including calves) depending on how productive a particular pasture is.... I supplement my lactating first-calf replacement heifers diet with (12 or 16% protein) pelletized grain and I creep feed selective groups of calves with a 16% protein pelletized product which has a growth additive in it called Bovatech. I employ some other technology to assure maximum growth of my calves and greater milk production in my brood cows. Beef cattle producers are in the business of selling poundage on the hoof so for calves to grow quickly and pack on weight is critical to profitability.... I am in the process of building a small feed lot where I will be able to feed out about 300 weaned calves and I will be supplementing their regular diet with corn silage.... Good question btw!

Looking at the time and sales it appears someone made a quick 25K in a couple of quick daytrades buying daily support (March high) and selling intraday price resistance. A bit "fishy" in the circumstances don't ya think?

Lye...FWIW...I think ECOL is finding a bottom right now and I really don't think it will go below the mid 19's...some of the indicators I watch are already flattening out e.g. MACD (6,13,4) and the ULT (5,10,20) is already looking bullish...My SUPER DUPER S/R scanner says the strongest support is at 19.53...Sorta iffy here IMO...Best, Doug(IIC)

                    Hey Lye,

It looks like PARL is completing the final shoulder of a reverse head and shoulders -- do you think it is time that we get back into this thing again -- for a ride to the gap at 11? I like it when the Bollinger bands are squeezing together and the stochastics are high.

Might be Tim, but I'm afraid of PARL now so I most likely won't mess with it.... Unless I just decide to daytrade it for some reason.

They just split 3 for 2 this morning too btw.... My average cost is much lower than $22.66 but I'll feature the trade at the current price. I like this stock!
CEDC is killin' me this morning fellas.... They had a decent report last night but missed estimates and the stock is being stomped, down 20%+.... I'm about to listen to the CC while I eat my lunch.

I still like the stock but I'll be selling the majority of my shares into any rally (I'll post details later since this was a "featured" trade).

A ton of short sellers in this thing right now.... and as I read the chart CEDC could see about $13 before a turn around (opinions?)....

Stalk for the bottom on this one folks, future money can be made here imo....

Lye, PARL sets up brilliantly for a short at current levels intraday $8.95 to target +44% with 5% stop over recent price resistance. Reward/risk is almost 10, which is great. Supporting TA is the weekly fuzzy C failures I've posted before, favorable count on the daily, and a descending triangle pattern the last 3 days.

                              shorting steel

                              Lyehopper,

When considering steel industry shorts, you should consider SID as a possibility. They just announced a partnership with Wheeling Pitt, a historically weak company. On the surface, it looks good because WPSC produces a lot of flat rolled products and has the galvanizing line for the growth in highway spending... but there will be a lot of legal costs associated with this company and Massey Coal that most people won't see. I think SID will be the better short. WPSC may be a good short, but this partnership may bolster the bottom line well enough that investors won't mind the legal stuff.

I do not have any good price levels to look for good shorting possibilities, only the underlying reason for making it a good short
