            Mr. Twain

Give me a few more days to read your post again and again to understand.

Where did you guys go to school to write like this? I want to write like the people on this board.

Hey I took an English placement exam on Tuesday so the college can place me in an English class according to my vocabulary and writing level.

Do you know what my score was? It was low they say. They said my vocabulary skill was that of an eight grade level and my writing skill was much better within equivalent to a ninth grader! GEE what are they talking about? I just freaking finished the ninth grade like two months ago. Dude what are they thinking? LOL So they placed me in a bone head English class for next semester. My parents are going to talk to the school.

              Hi Doug

Yeah, this sounds like a good idea. I'm trying to think how I would set this up? I don't think the my high school would let me.

              hey, from your quote
"If Stickey has higher aspirations than a State College "

What's the different between a state school and other school? I just finished an online class at UC Berkeley. I didn't notice anything better. They used the same books as the state school but it also depends on the teacher too if they want to teach or not.

You can a teacher that is an expert in his/her field teaching at the UC level but what's good about going to a top school if they can't teach or explain the subject to us students?

UC Berkley is a State school...It's no Stanford...But times change...I grew up in Culver City(near West LA)...I graduated HS in 71...it was pretty easy back then to get into UCLA if you had taken the right courses w/ a 3.0 avg and did OK on the SAT...The brainy kids went to USC (or some Ivy League or small private college nobody ever heard of)...Nowadays it is tougher to get into UCLA than USC...Times changed...USC is much more expensive...so the waiting list at UCLA is much longer.

I went to U. of Nebraska...It was pretty much a party school back then...If you graduated from a HS in NE you were automatically accepted...I was out of state...but sports scholarships got you in no problem back then...My GPA in HS was only 2.7...Of course I rarely attended...My SAT was acceptable...so no problem...But there was no overcrowding back then...More competitive now I suppose...Go for the newspaper idea...Don't be controversial and I can see no reason why they wouldn't go for it...Doug(IIC)

                  Hi Doug

I received an email from my school for the online newspaper. Yes, they can and will create a page and maintain the site for me. I know have to learn web design and design it myself.

I was thinking this morning about what you said, creating the online newspaper to be popular. The idea sound great but I don’t want to use it get girls to like me. Well, what I mean is that most of the girls on my town are weirdo.

For example, I used to have a myspace account and I would email all the hot girls in town and no one would reply to my thousands of email. Not even one email! I told my brother what happen and he read some of the email I was sending out. He suggest be a little mean and nasty on the email and the girls will come knocking.

I said that was a stupid idea but it didn’t hurt to try. Doug, you would never guess in a million years what happen. He was a right! I sent out nasty emails to the same girls at first that didn’t reply, sure enough they were replying like crazy and I had to block them. I guess the girls here love the verbal abuse but this isn’t my thing and I wont’ want someone with low self-esteem.

I was talking to older girls like seniors and some college girls. They love talking to me and wanting to meet me at school. I didn’t know what to do. I couldn’t tell them my real age or show them my freshman picture; they wouldn’t talk to me again. Sure enough, I was right after I told a few girls my real age.

As you were saying, different girls have different taste in boys. Some like the clean cut guys and some don’t. Everyone thinks the clean cut boys are innocent. WRONG! Those boys are the worst in my town; they do drugs, beat up on girls, and sleep with their girlfriend’s friend.

I just how to play the guitar during the Christmas break. My friends and I formed a band; well we just make noise for now. Those same popular girls that didn’t look at us in school, they come over and hang out with us when we’re making noise. They didn’t like us before we learn how to play instruments. Also if tell them to leave, they don’t leave the keep coming over. So now if we want them to leave we tell them to come over. They do the opposite! Figure that out!

                    Stock picking help

Hey guys I need some new ideas for stock pickings. I’m out of ideas because I don’t see anything I like in IBD and yahoo, they were my two sources.

I have a stupid way to picking stocks.

First if I like the symbol then I will do research on them and if I like the increasing number then I pick them for POTW.

                    Every time I see:

BBBB, I think of bebe in the mall.
HANS, I think of Han Solo from Star Wars.
EZPW, I think of those PEZ candy.
WNR, I think of WranglerJeans or Wonder Woman
ALJ, I think of AVON because ALON looks close to AVON
                    FTO, I think of Frito-Lay

It’s a stupid thinking but hey if I don’t like the symbol I don’t pick them.

Most of my questions that I have are not my ideas; they come from my grandfather and his friends. I don’t understand so I ask here (My last post on TIE). I don’t understand how a group of 88 year old men can play golf in the desert with heat up to 10,000 degree outside. I don’t understand the game and I don’t like going because it’s hot and I drink a lot of water and there’s no places to go pee. I get yelled at for peeing on the green, well gee, there are greens everywhere I look. I can’t go in the sand; they will know it was me.

This morning they were talking about oil refineries, I do know a little about this subject from IBD. The last oil refinery built in the US was some 30 years ago. Why aren’t there more being built?

Is it because we American are too environmental caution about oil spills in our own backyard? I think if a new refinery were to be built, the people in the nearby town would have a cow. Who would be the players, VLO? Any thoughts?

I have to shut down and get to bed, I have to fly home in the morning.

                    • Re: new oil refineries in U.S.

It's very difficult to get one sited, then approved, anywhere in the U.S. for environmental reasons.

Instead, the oil refining companies have gradually added capacity to the existing refinery locations, iimproved efficiences, etc. Refining has not been a high-margin business, historically. Some companies (VLO, FTO, others) today have an advantage because their refineries (for instance, making gasoline from crude oil) can receive high-sulphur ("sour") crudes, which cost less to buy, as inputs. Some oil fields produce "sweet" crude (this is the oil quoted in the "spot" oil futures market), others produce "sour" crude.

More refineries have been built in other countries, as well, and may be owned by American companies.

Iran, a net exporter of crude oil, is a net importer of gasoliine!

                      • Questions for you:

If a stock's price is rising recently, what might cause it go down again? What, if anything, would prevent it from going back down?

How reliable are the bases for making a guess re: these questions?

                          More sellers than buyers.

                          • Hmmm, OK Dave, let's see ...

Here is a chart of BAC. Adjust it to view only the most recent 1 year of data.

If we open a "max timeframe" chart for BAC on Yahoo, we see that the prices shown in the most recent 1 year chart are BAC's highest PPSs since 1986. These may be the highest (split-adjusted, of course) PPSs ever reached by BAC. Just for the giggles, let's assume that these are BAC's all-time high prices.

Notice the three recent days (or clusters of days) with strong up volume: May 1st, June 15th, and July 15th. On May 1st, and June 15th, lots of folks bought the stock when it was at the prices of 46.50/sh to about 48.00/sh. On July 15th, lots of folks boughts the shares in the 49s, which pushed the PPS just above the first high point the PPS had reached after the spurt of the May 1st buying.

Since about Aug 1st, when the PPS reached the 52s, the PPS has fallen back to the 11Aug close of 52.11/sh. The daily volume during each of the 4 sessions ending on 11Aug was lower than any of the daily volumes on May 1st, June 15th, or July 15th.

If the PPS of BAC should fall back to the area of 47.00 to 49.00/sh, what should we as observers expect to happen to the PPS of BAC from that day forward, and why? What is the most important technical factor, or combination of factors, to consider or to observe at that time in making that prediction? Is there any basis to make an intelligent prediction about such a thing?
