    Visa Ipo

I heard there will be a VISA IPO but I do not know when. Does anyone? How can I get in on this action and how much cash money do I need? Scottrade does not offer IPO’s. Where can I purchase some? Can I buy like 20 shares?

According to IPO Home it will be the week of March 17th http://www.ipohome.com/common/ipoprofile.asp?ticker=V

      But that's just a guesstimate

If you are looking for 20 shares you'll just have to wait till it starts trading on the open market.

        Sticky,
Unless you've got a couple million in an account with GS or J.P.Morgan and a few others you'll be paying at least 85 per share in my opinion. Don't be discouraged. This eliminates most of us here and will only make the fat cats fatter. We can skim a little out of the deal even at 85.

So the IPO is between $37 and $42. The price could be higher or lower at the opening market? Why do you have to have millions to purchase IPO?

Do you think Visa's valuation is reasonable compared with MasterCard's before buying it?

            Sticky,
Mastercard opened at 40.30 on May 25 '06 and traded in a range from 40.30- 46.00 that day. As of Friday it traded at 190.00. It has about 131 million shares outstanding and roughly does 1/2 the business of Visa. Visa to be traded as V, plans to offer 406 million shares which is about 1/2 of the total shares that will be issued. The economic situation will work to our favor in a small way , but I still don't see the general public being able to get into V at anywhere near 42. Too many of the high rollers will see this as a rare opportunity to make fast cash in hard times.

below average volume and 200 DMA question

I know I’ve asked this question a zillion times but I’m still not clear.

A stock is up one or more points in below average volume in the daily or weekly. Is this a set up for failure?

If a base occurs below the 200 DMA line, is this another set up for failure?

Personally, I don't find any hard correlation between moving averages and average volume of stock, whether the stock is appreciating or depreciating in price. This is considering all stock in general. However, there may be a certain equity that does trade around its moving averages which can exhibit somewhat predictable results when considering volume. In my opinion, there are too many other market forces acting simultaneously to be able to only trade on moving averages and average volume statistics.

                  John Henry,
Many people won't buy a stock that trades under 100K average per day and many won't buy a stock unless it goes up on increased volume. An advance on increased volume is better than one on decreased volume.

Yeah, I understand what you're saying but I get confused sometime with IBD methods. Is an advance on increased volume risky under the 200 DMA?

                      John Henry,
I'm no expert on moving averages but would say any advance on increased volume is usually good if you're long a stock.

I'm here...But the reason I don't post much is because what I do wouldn't be of much help to many imo.

Last week I traded QID 4x and TZA 4x...I also heldover some QID.
