  • PARL - This is just goofy

Several here know the story on this one, thought I'd start a separate thread on it. By most valuation metrics, like PEG, or ROE, etc., PARL is WAY undervalued. There is a long term uptrend in the stock price. Now for the wierd parts - institutional ownership is over 100% and short position approaching 50%. PARL closely linked to ECMV through cross ownership and distribution, raising a red flag.

Today, they preannounced the quarters results, showing incredible growth in revenue and earnings. The stock went up then dove like a mutant pearl diver, from $30 to $26 in about 5 minutes.

I placed my bet on the long side, picking up some shares at $26.50. It's nothing if not interesting.

Wonder if institutions are lending shares that don't exist? How else do you get 50% of the float short? and could that explain >100% institutional ownership?

      I feel your pain dude!

This stock will make you crazy Stenz! I have looked at this ticker today till my eyes are red.

I'm still holding half of my position and I saw a HUUUUGE profit evaporate in about two minutes today. Will I ever learn not to play earnings?.... I guess that if you've ever hit a really HUGE earnings play then you always want that feeling again.lol

I'll most likely trim more or all of the position on any rally later this week. The TA always had me worried but I fought it (in my head) 'cause I knew the numbers would be good and I wanted to see the longs force a squeeze.... which they attempted but it quickly failed. I'll hold the position in my thread till I'm completely out of PARL in real life.

I say sit back and wait now. Day trade it some if you'd like.... There's still a small fortune to be made on the (long term) long side here, just not right now.
      BEEF!... it's whats for dinner!

        data from yahoo:
        % Held by Insiders4: 34.27%
        % Held by Institutions4: 127.80%
Shares Short (as of 10-Apr-06)3: 4.59M
Short Ratio (as of 10-Apr-06)3: 14.3
Short % of Float (as of 10-Apr-06)3: 62.70%
        Shares Short (prior month)3: 4.27M

So, between insiders and institutions, 162%
        Short is 62.7%

This stock is all about manipulation and the price is almost entirely disconnected from the fundamentals. The price could go to either $22 or $32 tomorrow morning, and there's no way to tell which way.

I'm glad I stayed out of PARL. I'll get back in if it hits $19.

Why did you stay out, Webs? Didn't the VTP tell you the direction PARL was going to take?

Yes, I did stay out. Why would I go long on it? The VTP indicators were still not all positive. As a matter of fact, I believe I had already stated that I would wait until the proper time to enter PARL long. Well it was not the proper time...

Yesterday, my human emotion was telling me that I had missed out on a great profit opportunity, but I could not ignore what my rational Vulcan system was telling me. Now, after looking at todays action, I am more confident in the VTP. I know that I must forget about what my human emotions are telling me and that I must rely on logic.

Here is my trend read on PARL:

Monthly uptrend that traders enjoyed is broken. Reversal occurred in March when stock failed to make new highs. Monthly trendline also has been broken.

Weekly shows me uncertainty about this stock and failure to hold new highs. Most explosive moves often happen near the top. Weekly trendline has been broken.

Daily had a S/H/S pattern and has recently cracked the neckline.

My bias has been bearish on PARL with target down to 19.50. This is where I stand on it until it proves me right or wrong.

No thanks Webs. My singing voice sucks.

I've got one. Paris says: "PARL - that's NOT hot."

Did the VTP tell you to go short? PARL has been trending lower since 2/22.
