    YHOO and GOOG

New-born, that got me to thinking, so I did a comparison of their earnings and EPS growth, graphically represented here:

It's really interesting when you look at it this way, I think. I can't help wondering if Dr. J and the other dude consider things such as this in their show prep.

Just sold 'em back for 40¢ so they won't be a total loss. EBAY long & strong, baby. Yeah, it don't look so hot right now. That's the time to do one o' those 'mon backs that Jimmy Cramer talks about.

Oh, look at that wouldja, in the time it took me to type up this entry those same puts went for 50¢. Ooooooo, I'm scaaaared! lol

        Rob,
I liked the graphs you did. Nicely done but what I really like is that you take the time and trouble to build those to put up here. I think we all do present ourselves pretty well with our posts, charts, and graphs. Yours have that artistic quality that makes the rest of us want to present ourselves that much better when we put something up. It's really how the level or sophistication rises through this type of work.

          Rob,
Thanks, it doesn't get any clearer than that.

Thanks for the nice words, Ski & Billy.

With regard to EBAY's and GOOG's sluggishness since earnings, my opinion is that there are a lot of fund managers who can't find their rear ends with both hands, and when these babies (EBAY & GOOG) finally take off, those managers are going to be late to the party. (There are some funky options games being played today as well.)

Personally, I think what "Deep Throat" said in the Watergate scandal, i.e. "follow the money," is good advice for investing. EBAY and GOOG seem to make money so readily the only way they could make it faster would be with a printing press.

Here is how the momentum screen stacked up this week. Note that the column that normally shows the 1-day gain this time is showing a 2-day gain. (For some reason I neglected to update the prices after the market on Thursday.) The PNKUWG screen sucked bilge water this week.

                  DMI Chart Indicator

Doug, I'm curious: do you ever use the DMI indicator? I've been watching it lately on different stocks, and it looks to be a useful tool for people who like to day-trade.

Sometimes? All the time? Frequently? How would you say it compares to the others in terms of reliable signalling? Do you have a number value you like to see the ADX line at before you would consider a DMI+ crossover as tradable?

BTW, welcome back. Hope you enjoyed your trip to Texas.

Of course, I don't know what their show prep features. If you listen to them, you wonder if they do any. They are very experienced traders in the market, and they will answer any question a caller throws at them. I have called in before, so I know they do not pre-screen the callers. They simply say, "Hang on the line; you're next." They do not ask what the call is about.

But I think their comments are valid. I know we disagree about GooG and EBAY. That's why I posted it on my thread. I didn't want to make you have to read it.

I still think you are a good guy and a sharp trader. It will be interesting to see how all this plays out.

I use it sometimes as a possible confirmation that there is strength in a move. That's about it.

Dave is more of an ADX guy...I suggest you ask him.

Trip was OK...sorta of a whirlwind deal...visited 16 properties. As I believe I mentioned it was nice that I could meet some internet buddies in Houston and Dallas for dinner....thx...Doug

My dad pased away Wednesday and we buried him Friday. I've been busy with other things, as you can imagine.
