It's absolutely true. I owned the car in 1976. The fenders flapped like wings in the wind, a '63 VW bug.

        Rolling Thunder

One of my daughters had her first day of an important new job today on the grounds of the Cleveland Hopkins Airport. She was taking a tour of the grounds in a golf cart when she unexpectedly had the experience of a lifetime. A private jet pulled into a next-door hangar and off-loaded the casket of a 23-year-old soldier killed in Afghanistan. Full military honors, 300 motorcycles (Rolling Thunder), police and fire brigades (cars, trucks, lights, sirens), veterans, every television crew in the city. He was escorted in full procession down one of our super highways to his hometown about 25 miles west of Cleveland. She was deeply moved, as I am, writing this. (You've met her, billy.)

River, It's good that they are being honored. Previously, under some presidents, cameras were not allowed. No pictures of returning dead soldiers caskets or the planes that flew them in were seen and anyone that tried to publicize or take photos could be prosecuted. Remember, it wasn't long ago. In the late 60's and early 70's I risked arrest for wearing a U.S. flag or anything that had stars and stripes on any part of my wardrobe. Thank God times are changing.

I know, billie. That former policy was so so wrong. There might be details in the PD tomorrow, possibly with pictures.

My mother, soon to be 92, was returning from her Honor Flight to the WWII memorial in Washington D.C. Wednesday night. She was a Wave (Navy) in the war. Each veteran had an attendant and there were only 3 women veterans on the flight. My mother is somewhat ornery and as she was leaving the plane her attendant said " behave yourself " . As she got off the plane, Mitt Romney was waiting and shook her hand. She said he was very tall. I'm trying to see if her picture appears on the Toledo news tonight.

[B]thought this was a great one also.[/BA cellular phone on a bench rings and a man engages
the hands-free speaker function and begins to talk.
Everyone else in the room stops to listen.

                              MAN: "Hello"
WOMAN: "Hi Honey, it's me. Are you at the club?"

                              MAN: "Yes."
WOMAN: "I'm at the shops now and found this beautiful leather coat.
It's only $2,000. Is it OK if I buy it?"

MAN: "Sure, go ahead if you like it that much."

WOMAN: "I also stopped by the Lexus dealership and saw the new models. I saw
                              one I really liked."
                              MAN: "How much?"
                              WOMAN: "$90,000."

MAN: "OK, but for that price I want it with all the options."

WOMAN: "Great! Oh, and one more thing. I was just talking to Janie and found out that the house I wanted last year is back on the market.
                              They're asking $980,000 for it."

MAN: "Well, then go ahead and make an offer of $900,000.
They'll probably take it. If not, we can go
the extra eighty-thousand if it's what you really want."
WOMAN: "OK. I'll see you later! I love you so much!"
MAN: "Bye! I love you, too."

                              The man hangs up.
The other men in the locker room are staring at him in
                              astonishment, mouths wide open.

                              He turns and asks,
"Anyone know whose phone this is?"

This might be bigger than Obama's birth certificate. How can Romney put his nickname on the presidential ballot and not his legal name? I can't sign any legal document with "billyjoe" yet "Mitt Romney" is the name on the Ohio presidential ballot. Inquiring minds want to know.

In doing further research I found that Arkansas wouldn't allow a retired military man to use "Colonel" with his name on the ballot for senate but said that "Porky" or " Bubba" is allowed. Also "Jimmy" is allowable in the case of James Earl Carter since it is the common use for James, but is Mitt common for Willard Milton? I'd accept Will or Milt.
