In other news. Antioch6 has well represented the MrMarket community with his FIRST PLACE finish in the Lindzon $2k Challenge. With a measly $20 entry fee two weeks ago, he has manged to win $493.67. Wait a minute. Is that a 2,368.35% return in two weeks? Is that an annualized gain of... I don't know if such a large number exists. The S&P was up only 2.49% over the same period. Huge?

Wow, Tim! Thank you for providing that link too. Eye-opening! Looks like Ohio is no slouch in there either. How does one become "active?"
Disclaimer: My oldest daughter is a Project Manager at NASA and has worked there for over 20 years and, before that, for the Dept. of Navy Finance. Note that, in one chart, federal salaries have been frozen at 2010 levels with no possible increases in sight. So she is doing her part. (P.S. If anyone tries to mess with my SS payments, look out!) You have made some good points.

I have been curious about the number of guests online at this webisite at any given time. I found an interesting thing happening.
If you go to the top of any page, right under the $$$ Mr Market $$$ IS HUGE banner, there is a tab named "Quick Links." If you click on the drop down arrow, there is a link to "Who's Online".
The are many occurrences of web crawlers going thru all of the threads. The Baidu Spider and the Google Spider appear there often. Anyone notice this before?Tim - Retired Problem Solver

There has always been a link on MrM to who is viewing. There have been spiders crawling around here for years and years. If you google search your user name you will find all your mimo_100 posts and links to them pop up in the google search. Haven't tried a baidu search yet. There ain't no privacy no where any more.

Actually, this is ON-TOPIC: "Today’s weekly initial unemployment claims report is expected to show a -18,000 decline to 340,000, adding to last week’s decline of -15,000 to 358,000. Meanwhile, today’s continuing claims report is expected to show a +11,000 increase to 2.870 million, reversing part of last week’s -43,000 decline to 2.859 million." (Barchart.com)
Well, yeah! That's because of all the furloughed Government workers who were told to apply for unemployment benefits and haven't yet canceled!

The unemployment rate, after accounting for broader underemployment. Source: BLS. I know an older man who's unemployed. Let's call him "G." G.'s tall and erudite. He has training in a specialized field, is perceptive and pleasant, and has worked for most of his life, including for a decade at a prestigious company [...]Tim - Retired Problem Solver
