i have planted the big boy, better boy, beefsteak, golden boy and the roma. i always try to place the tag in front of the plants but they always get lost. I just plant the beefsteaks and the supersonics. i have a friend that has chickens. every year i dig out some real old shit in the fall, around now or so, and dig it into the garden area and by memorial day when i plant it has really nurtured the ground and i get some really big tomatoes. nothing like a tomatoe sandwich with a slice of onion and homegrown green bell or cubanello pepper on it with mayo and salt and pepper on toasted whole wheat and a cold beer.THE SKIRACER'S EDGE: MAKE THE EDGE IN YOUR FAVOR

both pickled green tomatoes and pigs feet are two things i love. peasants food. i grew up with both grandparents making them up at home themselves. they were both always around to munch on. i don't make the pigs feet myself but my wife does pickle the green tomatoes every year.Originally posted by IIC View PostDid you ever pickle the cucumbers?...That sounds yummy(YUM)

Ski speaking of pig's feet ........my mother would make boiled pigs feet in a pot basically with some garlic and pepper.........then place the mixture in bowls......let it cool..place in refrigerator.....then serve with some fresh squeezed lemon on top ,,,,,,,,,wow delicious....but not too healthy i guess?

Ah nostalgia...pickled pig's feet made by the Amish & Mennonites - still sold in the Farmer's markets around home -- and summer sausage, apple butter, and koch kase (cook cheese) with carroway seeds. And at least one crock of sauerkraut and one of sweet pickles bubbling away in the fruit cellar. And I usually grow Early Girl, Big Boy, Beefsteak or Supersonics, and all the herbs to go into the sauce (basil, thyme, rosemary, oregano). And peas, carrots, green beans, egg plant, leaf lettuce, kale, green onions, radishes, beets, and green and hot peppers (for the guacamole). Used to love to grow cucumbers and squash but don't have enough space where I live now. Stopped growing corn because the birds get them even with the paper bags.

Here's one that maybe you have not had...My wife's Aunt makes greens w/ fried chicken feet thrown in...they are crunchy although not a whole lot of taste.
The worst thing I ever remember eating was roasted catapillars...I got them in a can at Pier One when I was in college just for kicks...YUCH!!!"Trade What Is Happening...Not What You Think Is Gonna Happen"

GEE I get the feeling this guy hates Starbucks !
**WARNING** This Video Clip does contain some STRONG adult language....if you are easily offended by this ......please DON'T watch.
The Kid from Brooklyn reminds me of one of the old chiefs I had down at the Naval reserve unit when I attended meetings years ago.....we never learned to tie any knots......but boy.... we did learn just about every swear word, and very colorful stories about most of the bordellos around the world! LOL

I did take my son to a yankee Bat day .....but my impression was different than the Big Man's
His solution to Terrorism is quit simple, and as harsh as it seems ......I am sure it would be effective......I see it better than what is offered now .......sending our troops into Iraq but tying their hands.making their efforts totally ineffective
