In May CNS was on our CwH list for a while till the handle went down too far...I was pretty surprised...I kept it on my "A" watch list for a while waiting for a pivot window move that never happened. I believe it was an IBD stock too

I'm getting the feeling that I've taped a picture of myself to the wall, here. I mean, not only are my words directed at the wall, but also myself....

Buy the heck out of CNS! Don't stop anytime soon, because you'll never see it this cheap again before another moon. There.... is THAT easier to understand.....

    MOMO update

I'm at it again! I bought another stock which I deem classifiable as fitting many of my MOMO parameters. It's been beaten down lately, and today it finally met a level of some significant support. The company makes tons of money, and was once a part of my weekly screen of the IBD for 4 consecutive weeks in early 2007.

Cohen and Steers (ticker: CNS) was purchased today at $38.05

Here's the scoop on the business courtesy of Yahoo! Finance:
Cohen & Steers, Inc., together with its subsidiaries, manages high-income equity portfolios in the United States. It specializes in the United States real estate investment trusts, international real estate securities, preferred securities, utilities, and large cap value stocks. The company operates in two segments, Asset Management and Investment Banking. The Asset Management segment manages closed-end and open-end mutual funds, and institutional separate accounts. The segment also offers a portfolio of consulting and other services, and investment services. The Investment Banking segment offers mergers and acquisition, corporate restructuring, recapitalization, and capital raising advisory services to companies in the real estate and real estate intensive businesses, including healthcare. It also provides agency and underwriting services for various securities. The company offers its products and services through brokerage firms, registered investment advisors, and institutional investors. Cohen & Steers was founded in 1986 and is based in New York, New York.

Here's the chart which shows today's action that took the price down to major support. Note the red circles which all indicate an oversold situation. The stock is certainly poised to bounce:

No, not a research effort, only modest results there. However, some of the patents I have written were cloning (mice, U. of Hawaii, second one after Dolly) and nuclear transfer pioneering patents, and there is a major one on aircraft deicing systems that will save many lives, especially in general aviation. The latest is a really big one that solves the problem of tire tread shearing and "Ford rollovers." And really important organ transplant patents (like a total face transplant, which your avatar tells me you might be able to use! lol) I could go on and on. But modesty prevents me. Like I said, Jiesen and I could probably talk for hours.

Did I mention, I avoid biotech and pharma stocks like the plague on a long term basis? Know way too much. Not that much of a gambler. But you probably already figured that out. Riverbabe

Peanuts, your comments are all valid. I will watch this stock with interest, thanks to you.

Well, the lives of thousands of mice yesterday may inadvertently extend the lives of millions of people tomorrow, or at least make them better. What can St. Peter say about that? If there is a heaven for mice, then I'm sure those martyred would surely be there to greet you... maybe with a needle

Were you ever a part of a research team/effort that accomplished great things?

I believe you. You have no incentive to lie about something like this unless you were trying to scare me or impress Jiesen. You don't seem to be the scary type or have a fetish for mice.

Valid questions, but we're talking about the stock price at the time of my initial post and the possibility to make money from the technical aspects of it and the recent boost of fundamentals. A nice move of 6.86% was made from the time of my post to the peak on Friday. Now, you would have to be an excellent trader to capture that full gain, but I don't see how a 4% gain in a day or two was not possible on the long side. I've noted before that it only takes a compounded 1.3419% gain per week to double your money in a year... 4% in a day or two ain't too shabby. I figured that other market participants might see the same things which I mentioned in my post, and probably helped to boost the price. It was a nice swing trade.

Trust, or lack thereof, does not mean you can or can't make money from the stock in the short term. You do make a great point about the long term, however.

The answer to this question is "Ask your wife, Elizabeth"! I mean we are both former med-techs. Ask her if this makes sense to her? What can this silly machine do better than we can at reading test strips? It's ludicrous, right Elizabeth?

Does it really need to be quantitative? There are lots of blood tests to quantitate it. Elizabeth, we know our stuff, right? We are the same breed, here. And I would really like to have coffee with you in Westlake, with or without the ball-and-chain. I think we might have a lot to share! River

P.S. Ignore the avatar. I don't have designs on him. In fact, I sure don't really look like that! I just think that all three of us have a lot in common that might be fun to share over a cup of coffee.

P.S. My Ph.D is in biotech as is my extensive experience in writing biotech patents for big corporate biotech companies. Jiesen & I could probably converse on the subject for days.

Okay, fair enough. I am an expert in biotech, whether you believe that or not. I also use my gut when I see a company like this that is selling only research & education software. How much software can they sell to sustain growth? What is the competition? Believe me, there is lots of competition in the testing, analysing, educational fields of medical software. They may be a one-trick wonder (altho I don't see that here), but if they are, they are going to have to work very hard to sustain any kind of market share or growth. Sorry. The stock has gained 4.6% probably on the strength of their positive results. But can it be sustained? I trust none of these companies!
