TICKER, $beginning price, $ending price, 1 week % return (positive or negative)

    IBD 100:
    GOL, 36.67, 34.85, -4.96%
    HITT, 42.92, 43.63, 1.65%

Indices were down on average weekly volume. There hasn't been much news, other than the FED deciding to keep interest rates where they are. Technically speaking, the Dow and S&P 500 very close to 5 year and 52 week highs. The Nasdaq is currently at resistance from a gap down that occurred in mid May, but it is also close to its 52 week high.

IIVI is a company that is very close to my house. I have several friends that work there. I know some of the upper management. This is an interesting company. Their interest in China may pay off big time

I see that we concur on the two top stocks on your watchlist.
I don't know why this happens but everytime I try to answer one of your posts I always have a problem with a popup that say the response is too short and has to be at least 10 characters long. Most of my replies are much longer than that. Do you have something turned on inadvertently?

I got them from you. I've reviewed ATHR before, but did not act on it. AEIS came from your watchlist, and soon found its way onto mine. Nice pick! Where'd you find it?

I do not have anything "turned on" that I know of to make this happen. That has happened to me once before and I fixed it by doing this:

highlight everything in the text box for your post
            'copy'
            click the BACK button
            click "post reply"
'paste' onto the blank text box for the new post
the quote will carry over and you should be able to post the same message

ATHR and AEIS both came from Briefing.com Traders In Play subscription service. I'm watching them both closely. This is what is good about interaction here. Plenty of chances to make money off everyones picks.

                My play for the week

                AEIS

I got a partial fill on my buy order at $16.15 this morning. This will be a high ranking IBD stock, soon. First target is $17.40, 2nd target is $22, then I'll let free money run.

                Also:
At the end of the week, AZZ will report earnings. I strongly suggest keeping your eye on AZZ after they report. Earnings should be very good. The movement in AZZ might be magnified and positively correlated with NGA. NGA reacted strongly to AZZ reporting record earnings last quarter. The real play might be with NGA, not AZZ. I'll be watching both.

                  Basic Steel Backlogs and inventory....

Hey Peanuts.... I talked to my "inside contact" at STLD this weekend. He says that backlog has actually increased and inventories are exactly where they want them right now. No slowing in sight, in his opinion. prices are holding steady too.

In retrospect STLD was a good short in July afterall.... I might short it into any strength like todays attempt to rebound. I don't think it can close the gap formed today until it bottoms in several weeks.

BUT.... Keep a keen eye on STLD. It might be time to get the old shopping list ready when the group finds it's bottom....

                  BEEF!... it's whats for dinner!

                    Peanuts,
That was a great entry. You got it right at the low of the day. It opened at $16.24 and must have dropped to $16.15 right after the open because it was never that cheap again today. But good play. Glad you liked it that much to make the play.
I would advise keeping a close eye on it tomorrow or set a stop right at your entry. I'll be setting one at my entry of $16.35. I'm also looking at that previous high as my first target level which I see as a possible top of the right side of it's cup. Might exit there if I see it starts to slope off some forming it's handle and then look for another entry around the same range after it completes the handle.

WRONG! Gap from yesterday just closed.... STLD's a good long daytrade right now ($48.45).

                        Interesting...

Gerdau Ameristeel (Perth Amboy, NJ) has stopped melting. I think they will continue to process steel. This shutdown should boost Mittal Steel USA (Georgetown)

Industry wide, I have seen no differences in inventories (RM or finished goods), so it would seem that the industry is well balanced and demand is steady. I am reading a large article regarding steel and China. I'll hopefully pull some good information from it, and I will post it here if I see a market angle.

                        How's scrap pricing?

AEIS $17.40 target has not been met today. It seems to have found resistance at the closing price on May 5 near $17.20. I decided to take some off the table at $17.10 today.

I moved the money into NGA as it is making a strong move off of support. The initial position was established at $5.05

                            OT: I never knew...

I put in a search of my full name in Google and a hit came up from the University of Alabama. I couldn't believe it, as I was not given any type of notification upon graduation, but I am on this list... LINK anyone care to guess which one is me? If you are really bored, it is possible to get my full name and the city I lived in by logical deduction and by looking at clues left right here on Mr. Market's $$$HUGE$$$ Stock Picking Forum.

hehehe No, I am from Pennsylvania, but my family has a house in Alabama, and it's not in Tuscaloosa, but very close to Tuscaloosa.

                                How do you pronounce Ng?
