    Arcelor-Mittal buys Mexican steel company

I think that it is interesting the SIM is not mentioned in this article. SIM might see some heavy action today based on this news. Current operations are mostly in Mexico, and if Arcelor-Mittal buys a steel company, they make sure they get a good value. Either the Mexican firm was sold on the cheap, or Mexican steel companies have a strategic advantage to them that A-M sees and is willing to pay a certain amount. Other Mexican steel firms may have their value altered after news of this deal.

Just some thoughts; it will be interesting to see how it unfolds.

OK, I'm back at it. I think that today is good day for some momentum plays. I've used all the cash (well honestly, I used the old cash for some other investments in the last month, but I've sold those positions and rebalanced my portfolios yesterday.) Today, I established 3 positions with equal portfolio weight in each. These are the stocks and the prices I've paid for them:

      UA - $51.00
      USLM - $33.00
      CAS - $25.85

          GMarket Inc

GMKT is going absolutely bonkers today! I read a bunch of messages from other forums that were suggesting to short it yesterday at the EOD. Wow, is all I have to say. Those shorts really got whipped this morning

Cramer pumped this stock 2 days ago... incredible

I did not enter GHDX today... waiting like a crouched tiger, though

SIM is too crazy to call. I'll let someone else lose money in it...

Yes, CAS fundamentals and earnings growth are impressive. Current price action suckis maximus

I'm getting killed so far with this portfolio. Let's see where I am in a few weeks. UA was going to be the ST MOMO trade. I'm expecting a nice pop, soon.

I think you'e mixing up your styles here. If CAS was a fundamental buy, then it should be in an investment type port, not a short-term trading port even though that's where it belongs because at this stage fundamentals don't mean squat.

FRPT.ob is moving up again. I don't know if this is a corrective or continuation (maybe a 5 up).

Technical terminology would discount this portfolio as "momentum trading." I haven't been able to find a better title for it, though, so I call it my MOMO portfolio.

When you buy a technically weak stock, you are actually buying a stock that is improving in current fundamental value with each decrease in price. At some point a crossover must occur (r/r), and with the type of companies which this screen filters, that crossover usually presents traders with great opportunities for ST profits.

CAS is technically weak, but the value gets better and better with each red day.

This portfolio's success should speak for itself. I have recently been noticing how momentum stocks are not working in this current market environment, however.

If it closes today above 26 then it might be ok through the end of the year anyway.
