I usually wait for Forbes "Worst Stocks of the Year" list. Last year, the #1 stock was WPSC. It is up over 100% since the article!

They spotlight one smallcap stock each week giving pros and cons from the bulls and bears point of view along with financials and a short history of the company. They don't pump micros and tend to give factual information including lists of the top daily movers /with news that may have caused the move, along with top daily losers, and strong closers of the day. They also feature after hours headlines, splits and dividends, symbol changes and deletions.
This looks better than most newsletters I see for sale. You can get more information by going to Knobias Smallcap Clip Report on google. All they ask for is your e-mail address and no other information.

What if you think the market will be flat in the 4th quarter?

    Peanuts,
I consider these the most profitable and I'm too lazy to type any more. In Oct '05--Jan '06 I tracked what I thought were the best 36 of these little guys and they averaged 21.23% gain in little more than 2 months. Strangely HOM ranked 35 of 36 with a loss of 19.85% @5.25. Luckily I held some which I sold at 14. After that they seemed to go down the drain. Maybe it's all shifting to large and mega now.
