AXTI...bummer...but although a few of my prime watch went up early I didn't get suckered into anything...In fact I hardly watched as I spent 5 hrs trying to get something off my computer at work...Unfortunately...There was one thing I couldn't clean...Guess I have to call the tech guys in...Darn.

But coincidently...that started Friday...And something happened to my home computer on Friday night too...Not the same thing but pretty coincidental...I have some good stuff on my home pc and I believe I know where these things came from...At least I've narrowed it down to 2 places....And I'm not happy about it

As an addon to my post above...And I have various stories that I won't bore you with...But if you use Norton or McAfee let me tell you that you are not protected very well...At home I use Secure Resolutions...But if you use Norton or McAfee please let me suggest this when you have time...Run a FULL SYSTEM scan...Then go to Trendmicro's FREE FULL SYSTEM scan and run it...see if they find stuff and clean it that the virus scan that you paid for couldn't: http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

Will probably take 1 to 1/2 hrs to run the scan

Wow Doug. This happened to you about 18 months ago and you went out and bought a new computer to fix it. I hope you can fix the thing more quickly/cheaply this time.

I'm pretty sure now that it came from a foreign site that I use for some web stuff...I seemed to have cleared up this Trojan Vundo thing at work which included editing the registry...although the tech guy now has to come in and re-install Symantec...Plus I got scolded for taking things into my own hands.

At home I was using Zone Alarm to try and figure out which site it might be late last night and it appears to be the culprit...Zone Alarm blocks it...In fact Zone Alarm blocks my virus protection if I don't click ALLOW

Actually it happened in January 2005 and a friend bought me the new computer...But I had the hard drive re-formatted and the new computer is still in the box.

The stuff I have at home fixed everything and now I leave Zone Alarm on all the time...but the work story is a little different...see my last post to Rob.

But beware...there are a lot of email viruses going around the last month...many say they are greeting cards or from lost classmates...some are from email addy's you'll recognize too...Several people I know have opened them and WHAMO...Ruins your computer even if you have Norton.

Not sure if my Secure Resolutions Anti-Cyber Crime or even Zone Alarm can block it so I have a Don't open any attachment policy at home for now.

Where I work we use Symantec and it's set to get new definitions automatically once each week, or whenever I tell it to otherwise. It seems to work pretty good.

We had one guy who clicked the link to one of those greeting card sites, but I don't think his computer was compromised. It looks like Symantec successfully dealt with it.

We installed some email filter updates to our MS exchange server, and it looks like now most of those bogus greeting card emails are being routed straight to the junk folder.

Buy ORCL please. Yahoo has it at 19.07 at 2:20 which is 20 min. behind but I can't log into Schwab to get an up to date.
