Someone mentioned a week or two ago about being in the lead but having exhausted their two picks and it was only Tuesday or Wednesday. I thought that it might be neat if everyone had an opportunity to make a 3rd pick if they had already used their two picks. But the deal was only on Friday so that limited the amount of time the 3rd pick would have to appreciate or perhaps go down farther. It is meant to help a leader pad his lead or someone in 2nd or 3rd place to have another shot at the top spot by making another pick. It's a gamble of sorts and at the cost of a 1% penalty. So if you're in 2nd place and only 1 or 2 percentage points behind the leader you will have a chance of catching him, maybe or maybe not, on Friday with the 3rd pick. I just thought it would make things more interesting. How about if the 1st and 2nd spots had each used both of their picks and there was only .58 of a percentage point separating them but since they had each used both of their picks the game was actually over already for them both. I thought this would add a little more excitement to the game on the last day of the contest. The 3rd pick can only be used on Friday and it had better be a well thought out pick because it is a two way street and it could go either way plus the 1% penalty has to be taken into account. Just looking to instill a little bit more excitement into the POTW. If the majority doesn't like it then we can drop it. It's no big to me one way or another. Just looking to spice things up somewhat.
Hows this sound. Next week I'm going to charge a $1.00 entry fee to enter the POTW and the money goes to the Princeton Little Tigers. LOL huh.

Here's what we have so far tonight as of 9:35 pm. I'm going to take FRPT - long. Get in, get down, and remember the 3rd pick is going to be available to all who want or need to take a shot on Friday. Disregard the numbers please. The sheet is still picking up Friday's open and closing prices and that is what you see.

Here's what we have as of 10:55 pm. Methinks Louetta is right. I overlooked Billyjoe's pick the first time around. See everyone tomorrow morning for the beginning of the new week and a new POTW.

I am just joking with you, Ski. It is a great idea--and a big gamble, imho. Somebody has to tease you to keep you. . . humble.

                      That's a warrant, not a stock...

Your info is old. I provided the link to show it's Naz listed tomorrow.

It may be listed, but it's not a stock. It's a warrant. Why not pick the underlying stock, MVIS?

I don't get it Spike...MVISW is a 5 year warrant that has been out for about a year as far as I can tell...MVIS is on the list you posted but what's new with that???...I'm looking at an 11 yr chart of it right now.

Can you explain what you are doing with this pick?...thx...Doug

According to IB the contract type is "stock" and the settlement method is "stock". Granted the stock "type" is "equity warrant", but it's still classed as a stock, which meets the rule requirements of this contest.....dasn't it??

(BTW, I didn't use MVIS because all my POTW picks this year have been off the Spike's 8 weekly lists..........and I wanted to keep the good karma so to speak)

But it's no biggie, I'll take MVIS if this makes yall happy.

Spike...doesn't really matter one way or the other to me...However, I think it says it is a stock at IB because it can be traded like a stock...for now anyway...But I'd say it is more akin to an option.

But then again, ETF's, although discouraged in the rules, are allowed...And they are not really stocks.

I say let Ski decide...That's one of the duties of the scorekeeper...Doug
