Well...yesterday's price vol. was...but it is real difficult to find a perfect one...As I think I mentioned over the weekend I looked at 49 IBD CwH examples...some sure didn't look like CwH's to me....But I see the basic pattern with DELL no problem...thx

Looking at the volume on both of those charts, I'd say that VOLC more closely fits the cup with handle model than does CRH. Also VOLC operates in a more stable and predictable industry.

I used to be able to spot cup 'n' handle charts all over the place, but I went searching last night and never found one worth mentioning.

Edit: One caveat is that the right side of the cup on VOLC is higher than the left side, which, according to WON, makes it a weaker formation.

Personally, I'd prefer that the right side high is lower than the left side high but within 5%...But it is difficult to find those that match the 20%+ move up to the left...the vol dry up at the bottom of the cup....the increased vol leading to the left side high...the downward slop with vol dry up on a handle that lasts at least a week....But, overall, I'd say the ones I posted on Sunday are much closer than those sites that charge an arm and a leg give you....Like Cupwatch

Birch Mountain (BMD)

I think BMD is showing a pretty decent cup and handle formation.

The only problem with it is that ideally you want to see it as a continuation pattern in an overarching uptrend, rather than as a bottom, reversal pattern.

Oh yeah ... and one other thing ... from 4.50 to 2.00 is roughly a 55% drop, which is too deep to be an ideal cup, so take it for what it's worth.

I like the way the price, the 50-day and the 200-day are all converging to one well-defined point. It would be interesting to watch and see whether it breaks one way or the other when the three meet.
