      Pete,
We should all make such mistakes. Why should we "avoid" ETF's anyway?

River's prediction for the date of the market bottom might be real close to correct.

Billie I agree .....perhaps POW should expand into ETFs.......Afterall .....they are a basket of stocks .....and UNLIKE mutual funds they can be traded during the day. I think they will definitely HURT the Mutual Fund Industry!
But it goes without saying MBI ,with its trying to fend off the
"Fitch Rating Dogs" is heading quickly into BANKRUPTCY ......it's only a matter of time ; however, You can still cash in by buying the MBI Aug 12.5 PUT MBITV.

            The day the shorts ruled...

Riverbabe sits atop the heap with an obvious pick, in CFC short. Meanwhile, the rest of the shorts (including a short-ish ETF) enjoy a blood-filled Monday. RL gets absolutely screwed at the open.

Billyjoe, unsure whether to join Pete's ETF bandwagon decides to go Yellow for the day. I think something may have gotten lost in the Imageshack translation, (it says: billyjoe- no pick) but oh well, that's what you get for not making your pick!

By the way, folks, thanks for putting your prices in with the picks, as that made it so much easier this time.

Jiesen, thanx for giving me what looks like the opening price on CFC. Wish I could take the credit BUT I got in late, after 3PM -- I gave you what I thought was the price for that time or the next minute -- 4.41.

So, believe me, I am not atop the heap, although I'd sure like to be!!! Thanks for making this correction. River

                        Jiesen,

I had NWL short, not long.

                        Thanks.

                          BTFG is not doing well...
I may have to call Cramer and get him to pump it.

I'll borrow the 2007 POTW rulebook,
                            see Peanuts' post here:

                            with a few minor changes:

                            1) Anything that works for a long will also work as a short (I'm not looking it up). So scratch rule #5.

                            2) You might not get real-time prices (I won't look these up either). I will default to daily opening and closing prices (whichever comes first after your picks) unless you post your price with your pick. I'll do that on the honor system, but if your price is wrong by more than 0.50% and someone else corrects it, you'll suffer a 5% penalty for the mistake.
2a) If someone posts all of the prices (not just those he would like to be used) of the picks before I update, I will use those, so don't assume you won't get a real-time price because you didn't post it. The 5% penalty will not apply to the generous individual who would make that effort.

                            3) I'll also allow a limit trade, but only for the day, and only if you monitor it and call it on the day it hits. Again, if you do a limit trade but miss-call it (say it hits and it doesn't, or vice versa) you will suffer a 5% penalty unless you catch it yourself that day. (Scratch rule #7)

                            4) You have until Tuesday's close to make a pick or declare "CA$H" with no penalty, after that you lose 1%. If you continue to snooze, you will lose another 1% at Thursday's close, and the last 1% if you don't make a pick by Friday's close.

                            5) You may make a third pick, but you must hold this until the end of the week, and you will receive a BONUS 3% for being such an avid POTW fan- but only if all of your picks end up winners, otherwise you lose 1% extra for each loser (besides not getting the 3% bonus).

So with that, good luck everyone!

By the way, congrats Stenz for drinking both Peanuts' and my milkshakes. You drank it up!

I'll start off with (what else?) LJPC long for this week.
Just a repost as a reminder to those who may not be aware of the rules as I play 'em.

Doug, your entry was correct as I had it posted, since there wasn't an entry price given with the pick (see rule #2). I realize it gives you a better score than you expect, but that's how my rules work- if you want a real-time price you have to either a) provide it when you make the pick or b) have someone (or yourself) provide all of the entry prices of the day's picks before I post the scores.

As for river's and sto's picks- I'll fix these on the next update, and sorry for screwing it up for you two yet again... one of these day's I'll get it right! (I blame this on the time change making everything tougher to do at 5am)

                                Oh...seems complicated.

My suggestion: All pix before the open on Monday...Get the open on Monday...Hold for a week....Till close on Friday.
