    Rob,
When I was running one of the early contests here, a well known poster whose name I won't mention tricked me with an edit and the way he did it messed with my mind. Real devious and creative I never would have thought of his method and I won't say what it was but it would have been obvious to hardly anyone and made me appear more senile than usual. I think it was a one time joke as he's been very respectable for the last 5 years. Hint, I've edited this post many times.

      Rob,
There is a way to rig the POTW contest that's probably not traceable but I won't do it. My record here kind of proves it.

Rob you have to understand us "greenies" don't know the correct terminology to use in doing this stuff...
Simply put I was "closing" wm out as a pick, then opening up a "new" pick with the KKD stock.. I believe you have to stay with some pick until the last day so I had to grab another stock to use in doing this, thus the "closing of one and (buying) opening another stock whether buying is the correct way to do it or not... I simply wanted to go short with the second pick!

There were 38 minutes between the time of your post and the time of your last edit. I believe in the "trust but verify" philosophy, which is why, if I were keeping score (as I did here for many, many moons) I wouldn't allow that. And of course, I'm not keeping score, so that's neither here nor there. I'm just sayin'.
Rob on this point us "backwoodies" folks down here don't have the luxury of having real time "individual minute" quotes... I do have it in my financial link but...... I have to see what it is, completely close my links out for safety and come into out link here to the portfolio, put my post in on my intentions to make the trade..... then later go to google.finance.com and get the actual time and amount of the trade to match the post. Check me if you would like, but I assure you I have lost more then I have gained from it being inaccurate then I would be willing to say I was in error on the plus side..
Today is the only one that you will find that is slightly in error.. the time changed before I could get my post submitted... if you check you will see there is no actual time (at least I couldn't get it to show) that would exactly match my post time... so I used the minute before on each of the two stocks in question.

"IF ANYONE HAS A PROBLEM WITH THE WAY bat is playing this game... let me know and he will quickly get on with his REAL life and bow out of this playing contest! That will be no problem.. Thanks, bat

By this in the post above.... "then later go to google.finance.com and get the actual time and amount of the trade to match the post." I mean I have to wait about 25-30 for finance google to update the chart so I can get a real-time quote to match my post time. Yesterday when I made my first pick of the week I couldn't even get the google-finance to work the rest of the day... therefore I notified hags to this effect and asked him to give me help with it if he could so I could get the "correct price to reflect my post time", he will verify this I am sure..

Rob I kind of wish you would have pm-ed me if you had a concern instead of putting it out here on the forum.... I could have and would have gladly worked the concern with you. Concerns are concerns but I feel that kind of hurt my standings.... something I am "real" sensitive about.. I've always tried to be a very honest person on every forum I have been on..

One thing I have learned from this..... I "will not" edit any more of my posts.. If I do not have the real time quote at the time of a close, open, buy or sell etc., I will get it just as soon as google finance will allow me to do so, then I will make a second post to record the real time quote... there that should make an honest person honest!

I don't think bat was trying to pull a fast one as he posted what he was trying to do.

However, I really don't see the point in a contest where you can change your holdings during the week...Who the heck is keeping this thread up in RealTime anyway?

If I was King it would be one pick for the week....Doug

Bat, I was just making a suggestion to the current scorekeeper, using the occasion of your edited post as an example. I didn't think you were trying to cheat or anything. But what if a new player comes along next week who would try to cheat? Wouldn't it be better if he was unable to? That's all I'm saying. And I didn't want it to become a big deal or anything; it's only a suggestion.

No reason to question bat's integrity....I've known him a long time and trust his intentions...

I offer the ability to change your position just to add to the realizm of the contest...if you make a bad pick, you're able to exit and possibly improve your chances of a win with a second position...or blow it all together with two bad picks.....
With the one pick a week system you're basically locked into a pick and unable to manage your position since the end of contest controls your exit...we all know position management is as important, if not more important, then the pick itself....there have been some interesting change of positions on the weekly results due to second positions taken...I think IIC was overtaken by Peanuts one week due to him shorting the same stock Doug was riding long to first place...I guess I find it more interesting to see what "players" do with both great picks and bad picks....it shines a light on what type of investor they are...but I'm sure some of the run away losses aren't due to poor management , but more so to lack of interest.....but at least the option is there if you really want to be POTW champ and control your chances...the one pick a week system shows you nothing, other then maybe the "great player" has a system or maybe he / she is on a lucky stretch....Watching someone manage their trades seems more interesting to me....

Since POTW players don't switch positions all that often, I'll change the rules to state, just list your changes here and I'll personally confirm the exit and entry price determined by your post time....no need to post the prices, I'll look them up with the added clause of no negotiating allowed....

Thanks hags for the support and the show of trust.. I know these other guys do not know me and know what I stand for... I've been around hags now for about 6-7 years so he knows what I will do and not do..
As for the contest, I totally agree with hags on the way he is handling the contest.. the "fun" part of this is truly the ability to work stocks to your benefit with the closing and opening of a new stock when one does not pan out for you.. If the real World I don't think I would allow a stock to completely break me, thus I would put a stop on it as soon as it lost to a point I didn't think I could gain it back.. the same way with a gain, once it hit a high point I was comfortable with I would stop it and move to another.
Yesterday due to the fact I had to run to see my mom about 2:15pm or so I missed my high I was waiting for... wm was @ $7+ there for a good while and I "thought" it would stay there till I returned, it didn't. I missed out on a 10%+ return and had to settle for a 7.29% gain. Not bad.. by the way if I was a cheating man why would I still be under my orginal starting fund amount of $10,000.00??
Ok enough of this lets move on, hags is right and on the right path, more work for him to ensure the contest is correct but with him checking the prices on a change if we make them that would keep everyone happy... maybe! Thanks Dan for all the work you do to keep this fun and entertaining plus a learning tool for us greenies!

Hey man, I read some older posts... hope ya the best, bud. God bless your family, too.

Hags and Bat... I'm really glad you are both here at the HUGEST forum around. Are we playing for real money or something? What's the point in cheating if you don't really win anything... except the joy of pissing off Doug

                            Keep on posting and playing!

Thanks Pete for your suggestion on taking CoQ10. I did take some a long time ago I'm a big believer on vitamins & supplements. I felt CoQ10 was cracked up to be after talking to an acquaintance of mine.
