    Is Solar Energy DEAD?

Am interesting concept was posted by Jeff Siegal in his FREE newsletter called Wealth Daily in the 2/8/08 article entitled "Bargain Hunting for Solar " He presents an interesting concept for making money in Solar Energy.

Take a look at Daystar Technologies NASDAQ DSTI for instance.
*Change Time period to 1 yr on chart

Had you put $10,000 on DSTI every time it fell below $4.00 in 2007 and sold at $5.00, here's what you would've walked away with:

    Date
    Entry Price
    Sell Price
    Holding Time
    Percentage Gain
    Total gain on 10k

    March 7, 2007
    $3.94
    $5.00
    6 trading days
    26%
    $2,600

    May 10, 2007
    $3.87
    $5.00
    17 trading days
    29%
    $2,900

    August 6, 2007
    $3.88
    $5.00
    28 trading days
    28%
    $2,800

    Nov. 20, 2007
    $3.91
    $5.00
    22 trading days
    27%
    $2,700

    Total: $11,000

Now take a look at SOEN.OB
*Change time period to 1 yr on chart

Had you put $10,000 on SOEN every time it fell below $1.00 in 2007 and sold at $1.20, here's what you would've walked away with:

    Date
    Entry Price
    Sell Price
    Holding Time
    Percentage Gain
    Total gain on 10k

    Feb. 23, 2007
    $0.93
    $1.20
    13 trading days
    29%
    $2,900

    August 23, 2007
    $0.98
    $1.20
    6 trading days
    22%
    $2,200

    Sept. 20, 2007
    $0.99
    $1.20
    4 trading days
    21%
    $2,100

    November 5, 2007
    $0.99
    $1.20
    34 trading days
    21%
    $2,100

    Total: $9,300

As Of 2/8/08 DSTI closed at $3.35 and SOEN closed at $.90

NOW may be the time to enter both stocks and follow the pattern mentioned above? Any thoughts on these trades...your input would be deeply appreciated . Thank You !

It may be just a short term bounce but a tradeable one for that matter.

I'm taking SOLF short when $14.82 fails (that's the 200 day moving avg.). Still I can see why you took it long here.

Well...I took it long because it was moving up at the time...till about 10 seconds after I bot it anyway...It was a real light play and I think Solars are due for a temp bounce so I held...If it doesn't move tomorrow I'll take my loss

OEGY is the play that I've been following, solar roofing tile for pitched roofs. Have fin. lined up and orders are starting to appear at their door step. May be starting to trend up after a long stent at this level of 0.30 cents. May be one to watch here in the the short term. Marlin

AWNE === This company is into wind generators, and may be a play at this level also. Not sure if they are into the production stage yet like OEGY, but are purchasing parts and making deal with fabercators for parts.

XSNX === This one's market is the film on windows to produce power. They are tring to set up as a company to have their product install on large scale buildings which have a large amount of glass surface. Marlin

Both SOEN and DSTI Bollinger Bands are squeezing together -- a move in one direction or the other is imminent

I'm still trying to figure how a guy on tv rigged up his solar panels to get 10X the energy and he sold the excess to the power company. It looked bad but apparently worked. May have seen it on the Discovery Channel. I know it was the show where they drive across the country on anything but gasoline and stop at alternative energy locations along the way.

We're looking into getting one of those giant windmills on our farm. I think they pay 1700 per month. The land isn't farmed but overgrown and wooded. Used to be vineyard and 5000 apple trees 50 years ago. Giant electrical towers are about 75 yards from lot line.
