Peanuts, Found 3 Barber dimes (pre 1916) and 1 Seated Liberty dime from the 1860's. Most valuable was probably only in the $5 range. Found lots of Mercury dimes, maybe 100 from 1918-1945. Now the long hold until silver reaches 30X face value then I'll consider selling.

That is about 1 silver dime per 30 rolls, but much higher this year. These finds are from 16 banks and credit unions mostly within a 15 mile radius of my house. The breakdown is as follows: 2011--417 silver out of 400,000 searched, 1/959 includes several big finds 2 were over 100 silver dimes in a day. 2012--718 silver dimes out of 1,183,050 searched or 1/1648, 2013-- 683/920,000 or 1/1347, one big find of 157 in a day, at mid year banks stop selling me bags of 10,000 dimes, 2014--207/496,950 ratio 1/2401, bank machines seem to be sorting out most silver dimes and nearly all Canadian based on metal content and weight although some still get through counting machines.

    Ratios in 500,000 increments 1st 500 K-- 488 ratio 1/1025, 2nd 500K-- 330 ratio 1/1515, 3rd 500K--272 ratio 1/1838, 4th 500K--441 ratio 1/1134

5th 500K--282 ratio 1/1773, 6th 500K-- 212 ratio 1/2358. Wild silver is still out there if you are willing to search for it. Total dollar value based on current silver melt for my 2025 dimes is $2514. I'm holding the coins as silver is very low right now at 12.4 X face value.

Update, Found 2000th silver dime today after nearly 4 years and searching 2,945,500. At 1.3455 melt value they are worth $2691. I won't sell until silver at least doubles in value. I can wait a long time. Will look until i see 3,000,000 then slowly retire from the wild silver hunt. During the same time have found 5 hundred 40% half dollars and 100 halfs 90% silver worth a silver melt value of $2000. Ratio this year is the worst by far at 1 silver dime found per 2300. Overall the 4 year total is 1 per 1500.

I like gold on the long side now, based on the double bottom on weekly chart and Fibonacci retracement levels.

Here is my complete technical analysis on why I like gold for buy entry now:

    Good trading to you.

    Current Silver Melt

Peanuts, Look at it this way. If gold and silver are cut in half again can you imagine what the S&P 500 and DJIA will be? As my silver tanks, my stocks are hitting new highs daily. Current price 14.7 X face value for silver.

The precious metals markets are the craziest... nothing makes sense to the average guy. But, I'm sure some cowboy or indian is smoking and saying, "I knew this would happen"

Whatever... I lost on paper, so what!?!? It won't be real until I actually sell. Then that nut is cracked. I'm stubborn, and I'm sure there are others like me. But, how much pain is too much? Even the relief rallies are depressing. At some point I'll just have to give up entirely and go to a financial adviser who will just put me into a bunch of mutual funds... At what price? Can Gold and Silver get cut in half again?

Massimo, I find quite a few silver Canadian dimes being right across the water. Melt value is 1.21 ea. since they are 80% silver until 1967 vs. U.S. at 90%. Even found a silver Canada Half Dollar worth 6.05 melt in 2012. I rarely buy as you must pay a premium.

I've been a long time silver and gold investor.
Born and raised in one of Canada's most prolific resource base.

I can honestly say I am close to capitulation with my holdings as I am sick of the downtrend
Of the metals and in being in no mans land for too long.

With the never ending money printing that the governments are still doing, how gold and silver
are not at much loftier levels, is beyond me.

But, sick as it is, I will probably wait a little longer before I sell anything, because the moment
I do, it will surely spike.
I am neither a seller nor a buyer right now......just a longer holding pattern than I initially anticipated

    Cheers!

Predictions for gold and silver are as dim as they have been in years. In times like this is takes a bit of intestinal fortitude to buck the trend. I am taking small positions in gold and silver in anticipation of rising prices in the next five years.

Final Wild Silver report for 2013. Silver has dropped to 14.5X face value and at that price I'll probably not hit my $10,000 goal this year.

Finds 2013: 1 silver nickel, 4 silver quarters, 683 silver dimes , looked at 920,000 to find them, 185 halfs 40% silver, 35 halfs 90% silver total coins 908

    Finds 2011-2013--132 wartime nickels worth 149.16, 7 silver quarters 25.34, 1818 silver dimes 2636.10, 561 halfs at 40%- 1660.56, 106 silver halfs 90%---768.50

Total silver melt value as of today $5239.66

I've looked at just over 2.5 million dimes in last 3 years. Found silver halfs at 24 different banks within 20 miles of my house.
