I have 22 consecutive profitable trades of 15% or better. How is this possible? Every day there are hundreds of stocks setting new highs, no matter what happens in the overall market. Many of these stocks are still at very reasonable valuations. Afraid of buying stocks at their highs? Think of it this way: a new high is really a future floor for companies with solid financial underpinnings. Quantitative momentum modeling makes it easy to identify stocks that can continue this upward momentum trend. Why does this happen? It's really very simple..ask me about what investors and cows have in common. I am $$$ MR. MARKET $$$. I AM HUGE!!! Bring me your finest meats and cheeses. You can join in on the fun. Peanuts grabs a nice +8% with XTXI for the Pick of the Week for his 5th 1st placing ! Well done ! The stock really took off on Wednesday Crosstex Energy, Inc. is engaged, through its subsidiaries, in the gathering, transmission, treating, processing and marketing of natural gas and natural gas liquids (NGL).
I grabbed 2nd place with CPSI long for a +5% gain, also my 5th placing in 2nd. I'm just barely keeping myself above last place this year Was thinking the Tech sector was the place to be last week.... Computer Programs and Systems, Inc. (CPSI) is a healthcare information technology company that designs, develops, markets, installs and supports computerized information technology systems to meet the demands of small and midsize hospitals.
Karel once again places in the top 3 with EXM long, for a "not to shabby" +4%. Karel is looking to be keeping his 2nd place for the year, unless of course EXM doubles this week. It wouldn't surprise me though Excel Maritime Carriers Ltd. (Excel) is a provider of worldwide sea borne transportation services for dry bulk cargo, including among others, iron ore, coal and grain, collectively referred to as major bulks, and steel products, fertilizers, cement, bauxite, sugar and scrap metal, collectively referred to as minor bulks.
Good luck all, it looks like IIC may be winning this year ! But the 2nd and 3rd positions are still reachable by some with a great pick !
I will have instructions for the new POTW as soon as possible, but no later than next weekend. It will be similar to the current POTW with a few minor changes.
What a horrible year I've had with my picks on this particular contest ... and this in a year when the markets were all up pretty well. I did much better on the other POTW contest even though I had some major down weeks over there too. What's interesting is that I was trying a particular method for picks this year, and I used the same method on both boards. One did well, and one did not. I'm not quite sure how to interpret the results. Maybe I should buy a set of darts.
Anyway, for the final 4-day week of 2009 I'm tempted to stick with GOOG now that it closed above 600, but I'm going to go with WATG long. The conglomerates sector has been doing well lately, and Wonder Auto Technology has been increasing its top line rather nicely. It looks to be coming off the bottom of an upward channel right about now as well.

I know the feeling, I've used the same method on your contest and I'm up +40%, but I gave it all back here
