I'm not sure if she knows what the constitution is meant to be.

i hope they question her strongly enough to see exactly what her real views are on all the issues. i know she is a liberal and leans far to the left. and being ethnically very hispanic can her instinctive feelings be kept out of her decision making processes as per the constitution had meant it to be. during her career she has made several statements which i dont agree with but dont really know specifically what her intent was at that moment. but i would want all of these questions answered before i made her a supreme court judge and everything that goes with it.
pete, i cannot believe you see anything interesting there.

These are the instructions that trial judges give to jurors in the Ohio court systems:

Consider all the evidence and make your findings with intelligence and impartiality without bias, sympathy and prejudice so that the plaintiff(s) and the defendant(s) will feel their case was fairly and impartially tried.

You must not be influenced by any consideration of sympathy or prejudice. Sympathy is a common human experience and the law does not expect you to be free from such normal reactions. However, the law requires you to disregard sympathy and not permit it to influence your verdict. You should treat each party with equal consideration[, whether that party is an individual or a business].

It is your duty to weigh the evidence carefully, to decide all the disputed questions of fact, to apply the instructions of the judge to your findings and to render your verdict accordingly. In fulfilling your duty as jurors, your efforts must be to arrive at a fair and just verdict.

Based on this and her position on empathy, she wouldn't even make a good juror much less a supreme court justice. The latest decision of hers being reviewed was blocking firefighters who took a test for a promotion because 18 whites and only 1 Hispanic were eligible for promotion and therefore is unfair since minorities are under represented. I'm sorry, but if my house is burning down, I don't want firefighters selected by the color of their skin saving my house--I want the best trained firefighters trying to save my dogs, whether they are white, black, red, orange, magenta, or otherwise.

Our government has already made a mockery of our constitution in the past few years. The good news is I can still own a gun to dispense some instant justice if I'm ever a victim of a crime. I've lost faith in the justice system and pretty much every violet crime you read about in the paper was committed by someone who should have been in jail for previous crimes, but was released because of empathy.

What she did with Frank Ricci and the rest of the firefighters was a disgrace. She's a racist. She's the perfect selection in Barack Obama's new America, both beneficiaries of affirmative action.

Frank Ricci came in 6th out of 77 in his exam, QUALIFYING for his officer promotion. Too many white males QUALIFIED, can't have that.

I was a fireman at the St. Croix refinery. I wasn't very good though. I was one of the few people who could carry the hose by myself when it was pumping water full blast.

My wife can carry a hose while it's pumping full blast...if you think Sotomayer is a bad pick, have you heard about Brian Deese, the new car czar? Check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ForSfC4EV0 (I'm not a big Glenn Beck fan, but he tells the Deese story objectively, although with a very satirical tone)
