How do we play banking stocks with the present rate hike/ non rate hike situation ? My banking stock is kicking butt. Wish I had a few more in the portfolio.

I don't know...but I have noticed for weeks that many Bank stocks show up when I run some of my "approaching new highs" scans. Also appears to be quite a few takeovers or mergers...I've not been following Banks but you can see it when you run the scans...shoot up and then flat line.

Speaking of flat line...that's one of the pains I go through when I run my flat or tight base scans...too many takeovers/mergers show up...Not the end of the world...But I wish I could figure out a way to eliminate those.

Back to Banks...MG has 102 Industry groups...They have 2 banking groups...Based on the last 3 months they are ranked # 18 and # 20. YTD, Banks are # 29 of 100 DJ Groups/Sectors w/ a respectable +7.74%.

This one is really low volume...Came onto my radar on the weekend before June 9th when it debuted at # 48 on the IIC 100. However, I was shocked to see it appear in the IBD 100 for this Monday....The ADV is only a little over 7,000shs...But it may be ready for a blowout move if they beat and the c/c goes well. I believe they announce at the close on 8/9/06....Doug(IIC)

Doug, I got your list all keyed up now. Here is the Advance/Decline line of your list. This is computed off the last weeks IIC 100. During 6/13/06 your list was 100% oversold. Notice the pie chart to the top. It went into major over bought 6/30/06. Notice the current choppy action in the chart.
