Thanks Mickey...I was thinking about using it to post info in the future...Not up on how it all works...But then, I have not looked at the instructions yet.

I was thinking that I could keep the Mr. M POTY results there...I do them in .xls anyway. But I bet most people don't have a Google account. BTW: Google accounts are FREE....Doug

Mailed my taxes in today...Don't forget tomorrow is the Extension deadline. Dave will be happy to know that I included checks to both the Feds and State...although I don't know how to figure the late payment penalties so they will bill me for those.

One nice thing though is that since I had 2 employers last year I overpaid Social Security and State Disability so I got credits for those. Geez...the max on CA Disabilty was about $345 a couple of years ago...now it is $857.

On page 3 there is a full page ad for Centex Homes. They are having "Affordability Days"...Yeah Right!!!

        Zero Down-Was $3,342 mo NOW $1,431 mo...When do I move???

Oop's...I better read the fine print...Except that I can hardly see it. Here is a sample of the details:

        Price: $664,000...Down Payment $132,000 (Hey!!!...what happened to ZERO DOWN???)...Finance $532,000.

        Payment Schedule:
60 mos. $1,496 (How come I have to pay $65 more than the big ad says?)
        60 mos. $3,380
        239mos. $4,326
        1 mo. $4,324
A little clip from Barron's re: Centex...(I posted the above 2 weeks ago)

Shares fell 5% after the home builder cut its guidance, blaming increased order cancellations and write-downs on land value. Centex now expects second-quarter per-share earnings to range from 65 cents to 75 cents, well below the $1.40 it previously forecast. The company cited $125 million to $140 million in charges related to land write-downs, including abandoned land options. Banc of America Securities analyst Dan Oppenheim maintained a Neutral rating on shares. Centex's "focus on building at the expense of margins should further worsen the excess supply and downward pressure on home prices," he wrote.

Their ads (Centex) in today's RE Section are really outlandish(Finance-wise)...If I was STUPID I'd buy as many of these homes they advertise as possible.

Can't remember if I mentioned this but in the LA Times they had a list recently of the % increase/decrease in LA County home prices over the last year...The decreases came in the more expensive areas...Increases in the worst areas...Many of which are "Ghetto" areas...I was just looking at the ads...There is a house in one of the very worst areas of L.A. County...I have a feeling that many here would not even consider driving thru it...2 bedroom...1 Bath...$440,000...Amazing.

Since I am in the RE biz...not sales...I know quite a few people...I heard this week that Pulte Homes is stopping some major projects in the Inland Empire...IIC

          Doug,
Do you have any idea why Cramer is so high on LEN ? Has mentioned it several times in the last 30 days.

I have no idea...You'll have to ask my wife...she's the Cramer Fan here...But perhaps the incentives may help them unload???...Maybe not at the margins they originally intended...But still might be good very short term??? http://www.marketwatch.com/News/Stor...oo&siteid=yhoo

When I posted that you were one of the people that I was thinking of...I'm fairly certain that you have it a lot better (Lifestyle-wise) in a nice place at less than you can get a Ghetto house here...So, the offer still stands...You give me a job w/ one of your outfits (I prefer a financial type gig...But I have no problem w/ physical labor thrown in)...I'll work my butt off for you...And you sell me a nice deal on something...The one you posted sounds very nice...Doug(IIC)

I knew there was something that I liked about you Doug. I just mailed mine in on Oct. 14. Actually was a day early this year. First time that has happened in years. Usually sometime on Oct. 15 near the midnight deadline. Our wedding anniversary is also the on Oct. 15 so sometimes it make it a little rougher. Usually on my wife and the anniversary.
