Bad news...just input my trades for the week and find out I actually lost a very small amount for the week. I had forgotten to write my loss amt down on NAII on Monday.

So far after 2 full weeks I have made 23 daytrades. In counting gainers/losers I have to count commisions. This turns a break even into a loss. It can also turn a 1 cent gainer on 1,000 shs into a loss(which happened last week). So in reporting gainers/losers I will include it.

That revises last week's total to 2 up 6 dn. This week it was 6 up 9 dn...running total 8 up 15 dn. Total portfolio gain after 2 weeks is 5.2% incl. commish.

I have yet to catch any that really run yet. The system I'm trying depends on catching a few like that...but I'm really not sure how many. And my chances are slim that I will catch many because I will sell on a run that pulls back. How many just keep running w/o a pullback?...Not many. So I need to work on my pullback sell rules...how much of a pullback will I give?

My biggest mental error of the week was BLKB. First, I got screwed on the price I paid. But that happens. Then I let it drop 5%. I finally sold for a 3.4% loss. I did not follow my sell plan. I could have easily gotten out for a 1% loss.

Well, we'll see what happens next week...IIC

          Undiscovered Gems

They are all VERY LOW RS stocks that have very good recent earnings
and very good projections over the next 2 years...

ARMHY ATMI CECO DIGE ECLG ENMC ENTG LTON NETE NFLX NVLS OPNT RSYS
          SANM SCSS SILI SNCI VSEA

Note that these are extremely risky IMO. They all have very good eps projections, but as I've seen from past lists, if they fail to live up to the projections they are toast.

            IIC,
I can understand why investors buy stocks with high EPS and RS and others look for those with lower EPS, but high RS thinking that if the stock has done well with not so hot earnings they'll surely take off when earnings raise. Why would anyone buy a stock with high EPS and low RS? If the stock price is depressed even with good earnings what is there to look forward to? You know it will tank if earnings drop and it might not do any better if the earnings report is outstanding. Or is the thinking that eventually a stock regardless of past performance will eventually respond to continued earnings increases? Thanks for your comments.

              I don't know...maybe you should short 'em all about a month after I post 'em(see below)...LOL

No, on a more serious note...These have good recent quarterly earnings...but not necessarily good past eps. Therefore, they may have low EPS scores(I have not reviewed the latest list yet). The idea though is that you might, and I emphasize MIGHT, find a turnaround candidate or two in the list if that's what you are looking for.

Here is a copy of a post I made earlier today at another forum:

These stocks are very risky...If they miss on the next eps report they are toast from what I've seen so far.

Just for fun, here are the results of the first list I posted here on 3/21/04. That was a Sunday, so I am using the closing prices for Friday the 19th. Might be better if I used the open on Monday...but I'm too lazy to go back and find them.

Notice that all went up at some point, but all are down now.

Tokyo Stocks End 2 Percent Higher

TOKYO (AP) -- Tokyo's benchmark stock index advanced 2 percent Monday as blue chips Canon, Honda and Toyota benefited from robust Japanese corporate investment data that eased concerns that the country's economic recovery might be stalling. The U.S. dollar rose against the Japanese yen. The Nikkei Stock Average of 225 issues ended up 221.88 points, or 2.01 percent, at 11,244.37 points. On Friday, the index fell 130.26 points, or 1.17 percent.

                      Day Trading

                      IIC,

Question: how much profit per day would you consider necessary for day trading to be profitable for the work involved? Like you, I work FT. Would you think $150 per day profit enough to continue "the habit" for the risks involved? Is there a rule of thumb that you might give me to guide my understanding.

Question: how much profit per day would you consider necessary for day trading to be profitable for the work involved? Like you, I work FT. Would you think $150 per day profit enough to continue "the habit" for the risks involved? Is there a rule of thumb that you might give me to guide my understanding.
I can't really answer that. That's a personal decision. It depends on how much time you want to put in and how much you enjoy it. But most importantly, I think you should look at it on a % basis. $150 a day would be darn good with a $20,000 portfolio. It wouldn't be worth it with a $500,000 portfolio...unless you just liked doing it.

I'm running into some extremely helpful people around the net the past few weeks. I'm finding out that I have more to learn than I thought...but that's OK...I'm in no rush.

Not only are there different methods for picking stocks, which I knew already anyway, but there are some tools that are probably necessary if one is to daytrade on a long term basis...like Direct Access(I've been burned more than a couple of times on the prices I BOT or SLD for especially on the lower ADV stocks). Also, have to careful on low cap stocks as the size of your trades increase. There are plenty of stocks you could daytrade at $5,000 that would not be appropriate for a $30,000 trade.

I did not allot a large % of my portfolio to this. However, it is at least necessary to have over $25,000 in a cash margin account(in most cases anyway) if you plan on daytrading 4 or more times a week in the same account. There are also some other things to watch out for...check the daytrading rules posted at your Broker's site.

I don't think I'm really risking a whole lot here. But in the back of my mind, and this could really hurt...If I have a large trade on a stock that gets halted. In all my years I've only had one holding get halted. It was my first trade in Junior High in the '60's. I BOT 400 shs of United Australian Oil. My dad was my broker so he comped me the commission. I paid $.26 sh. Fairly soon thereafter it was up around $.90 sh. I told him to sell at a buck. Then BAMM!!!...The CEO gets busted for embezzling...never trades again...but the stock certificate is pretty...TRUE STORY.

                              IIC,

What is Direct Access? I had "direct access" in the subject line; I should have put it in the body of the letter.

I am interested in day trading, and I'd like to pick your brain.

I'm sorry about that...At this forum I don't even look at the subject line.

                                This should help explain some:

BTW: At another Forum I'm in... I posted that I am the most Prolific poster here at Mr. M...Just to set the record straight...I meant "QUANTITY" of posts...Not "QUALITY" of posts...There seems to be a little confusion about what I meant...So I wanted to set the record straight...THX...IIC
