    <sigh> missed top line estimates...

For the quarter, the company posted revenue of $55.95 million, well below the Street consensus at $62.3 million, while profit of 44 cents a share were nicely ahead of the Street at 31 cents.

The top-line miss = MELI in late trading is $60.75.

A comment from Motley on this news asked why no one was giving any credit to the fact that the company changed it's revenue recognition. It would be the reason why the revenue was missed and the only reason. As such, the move makes their books far more transparent. Besides, their marketplace business is growing far faster than eBay's.

I have to agree. So while it's being hammered this week, I do think it will see a turn around. Maybe not in the 4-6weeks we were all hoping for but at some point...... I hope, as I'm in on this one, too.

Their business model works. They don't have much competition to speak of and their revenues are STILL growing. That means they will continue to grow earnings and we all know what that will mean for the stock price.

Right and if I didn't already own MELI I would think that right now would be a huge buy opportunity.

Not to toot my own horn...And I can't toot it too loud anyway 'cause i didn't buy it...But 1 year ago my friend convinced me to attend his IBD Meetup...Only thing is you had to bring at least one stock...So, I spent some time thinking about what stock I would pick if I was still a 1990's Canslimmer...So I spent about 2 minutes pondering it and brought them MELI.

See...You can take the boy outta Canslim...But you can't take Canslim outta the boy...Doug

Was anyone paying attention to this today? Can someone explain to me what the hell happened in the last few seconds of trading? Seems to me like someone made a market order sell on someone's low bid.

                    EDIT:

Apparently my broker is showing the wrong price ($62.59) and it hasn't been updated to the correct closing price. I guess I was right, though, but no biggie.

Indeed! I think Karel and Deaddog are very pleased.

Our time will come soon enough.

Well, looky here! Finally seeing a little green. Go MELI.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that I dropped MELI at +2% a few days after I posted this. I gave up on it. I feel that my money could be sitting in better places.

EDITx2: I picked up some again at 66 earlier in the week. I have a hard time sitting out.
