I wanted to short more of the market today with FAZ and more TZA, expecting it to open up a bit or flat. If there a rally today or tomorrow I will enter these positions. Looking back, I would of done better to wait for a down day when I wanted to buy stocks, and better to wait for an up day or two to short them. This is speaking for this month only. I still think the market will go down in the next few weeks, so I've been trying to position myself accordingly. The fertilizer stocks have rallied and I've only been watching them. I wanted to buy fertilizer, gold, and oil stocks at much lower prices when I start covering my shorts.

      RM Update

I shorted 200 shares of FAZ just now. I think I have enough of my short position to feel comfortable now.

        RM Update

I haven't made any moves in a while. I still don't like the overall market but I'm covering all my shorts today. I didn't have much luck with TZA FAZ SDS or JPM, but BAC and MS did sell off a bit. My plan now is instead to buy puts on the indices later this week, and get long gold, silver, and gold stocks tomorrow and throughout the week. This is my second go at trying to pick a rally in these shares, and hopefully I get it. I thought I would buy them later this year, but they look cheap and I like the price action recently. I will post when I buy again when I buy them.

Edit: This includes covering XLF and EEM from earlier in the year. From now on I will focus on trading BAC C MS JPM and WFC instead of XLF. It has too many other stocks that I'm not interested in being short.

          It's That Time Again

I think my patience has paid off. I think it's the right time to short this market again. I will be buying puts on the IWM(russell 2k), and calls on the Vix. I think everyone should buy some vix calls right here with the Vix at 13.36.

I forgot to post my gold and silver stock trades but I've already bought and sold them. I bought several of them and made 5% on the entire trade (adding 1% to my account total). This wasn't much, but I still feel very cautious on buying stocks, and I think I'll get another chance soon to buy them again. I missed the rally now first in agriculture stocks, then in oil stocks. This is okay, as I believe there will be another chance and a bigger rally still this year. Go buy some Vix calls or short the russell 2k!

            Vix a little Overbought

I'm selling half my Vix calls today as it looks overbought in the short term. The Vix has gone up 28% in 7 days. Pretty huge if you ask me! I missed some more rally in the gold and silver stocks I recently sold.

I think the move in Silver and Gold is done for now so I'm waiting for the next selloff to start buying again. I'm keeping an eye on MrMarket's TNH to buy at that time also. Depending if and when and how much they selloff, I want to also buy oil stocks and fertilizer stocks later this year.

              Profit Taking

The Vix looks very overbought now and I hear some chatter about it going higher. Where were these people 3 weeks ago? The Vix is up over 40% in 11 trading days since I bought some calls. The S&P is down 1.2% over the same time period. You do the math. I am above average in size.

I fully expect the Vix to be over 40 in the next 3 months, but I will wait for a better place to re-enter. The russell 2k hasn't sold off much yet so I am still holding puts. In retrospect, I should of held my gold and silver positions, but I'm still weary of a third and final leg down in silver. I think the run is about over in the short term. I still want to buy oil and fertilizer stocks later this year, as well as gold and silver. Hopefully my patience will pay off again.

                Update

I meant to buy back my Vix position earlier today, but I'm having trouble with my new computer. I have to send it back so I am dealing with some customer service. Meanwhile I'm using an old netbook that has been very reliable. Anyways, I'm buying vix calls today that expire in december with a $20 strike. I believe the Vix will be above 40 sometime in the next 3 months.

                  Another Chance?

I believe today is another chance to make my trades in fertilizer, oil, and gold stocks. I will be placing my orders tomorrow for TNH, CVX, GDXJ, etc.
