Well this shows 2019 not 2018 and I can't get the right URL in there for some reason....

Sorry I took so long, been out all day. I found it on Schwab. Nasdaq.com shows it too:

        Uh-Oh!

        Dear Client,

Effective 10/26/2016 , Scottrade will begin assessing short sale fees to your account.

Short sale fees represent the market cost of borrowing shares from external counterparties or from internal inventory to facilitate a short sale position, and may be applicable when you sell a security short or when an option transaction results in a short position. The amount of the fee is based on the supply and demand for the security and may change over the duration of the short position, sometimes on a daily basis. Short sale fees will begin to accrue upon settlement of the short sale and will cease upon settlement of the covering purchase. The short sale fee will be assessed to your account on a daily basis and will be reflected in your account activity as “Short Sale Fee.” All short positions may be subject to a buy-in at any time, including, but not limited to, if Scottrade is unable to borrow shares to keep your short position open.

A review of your account activity indicates you will be assessed this fee should you maintain your short position after the effective date listed above. This provides one calendar week to close your short position(s) with no charges assessed to your account. Please contact us at 800.619.7283 if you have any questions about short sale fees.

Out of an abundance of caution, I have taken all my profits in 3 accounts this week. My IRA goal every year is to make enough profit to cover the amount I have to take out in my RMD (required minimum distribution). This year so far I am at 75% of that goal. Going to take a deep breath and sit back for a little while, because I suspect we might be due for some kind of pull-back soon.

River, I have that same feeling. Just can't see selling my long held Dripping high dividend stocks. I don't think they'll drop as much as some others.

I totally agree. Still hanging on to some of my low profit ones like MON that have a 50% chance of big-time profit if Bayer deal goes through. http://www.marketwatch.com/story/inv...ger-2017-02-20

Sorry to barge on on this interesting thread. River babe, my feelings are similar to yours in this post election surge, on one hand feeling great that my portfolio looks like I'm a genius, on the other hand, my APPL stock is once again soaring and last time, I held and it dropped, taking its time to get back to now. I bought NCR on a whim a few months ago because while out shopping at the supermarket I noticed all the self serving checkouts being installed; I saw the brand, did some quick research and bought because I found out most major markets are changing or have changed about a third of their checkouts to this. Anyway, NCR has been on an upward flight, up almost 15% since, I might pull the trigger on this & hold apple. BGCP is a high div, value play I've held for many years; my main account that is controlled by a financial advisor also holds this.I too am trying to build this IRA up to fund my retirement. Everyone on Mr. Markets site have great ideas, same here!

When Mr. Kangas joined "Nightly Business Report" on public television as a stock commentator in 1979, there was nothing like it on the air.

My all time favorite women's clothing store, J. Jill (JILL) is IPOing tomorrow. Everything in those stores and online fits me to a "tee." I always find exactly what I want. Priced $14-$16. Will this be another SNAP? Going to watch this one closely but not jumping in with both feet here. Too hard to judge the market's mood right now.

River, J.Jill shows 8 store locations in Ohio. Maybe these specialty stores are the bright future of retailing. I'll ask Mrs. billy if she knows of J.Jill. Last time I bought woman's clothing (not for me) I screwed up. It's the thought that counts, right?

Looks like the IPO went reasonably well, meaning to me a reasonable price. The woman who owns the horse farm next to us shops there and she can go anywhere. Saw some financials on Schwab and they look reasonable too, top line growth and expanding margins. Figured I'd wait a few days and see if I can save a few nickles on the price, a strategy which has allowed me in the past three months to miss out completely on several things I wish I had bought.
