Still have 1/3 of my Vringo (VRNG) holding. Sold 2/3 last week for a $20,000 profit. Waiting for the judge to rule on the ongoing RR (running royalty) against GOOG for willful infringement. Could come at any moment.

It's about time! It's been dead money for two years! LOL (and gnashing of teeth) waiting for the (really slow) judge's decisions.

At last!!!! Now I need to figure out how to get the best price for my remaining shares..., (amid crazy volatility and a short squeeze). Halt appears lifted 9:15 AM.

NEW YORK - January 29, 2014 - Vringo, Inc. (NASDAQ: VRNG) today announced that on January 28, 2014, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, Norfolk Division, issued a Memorandum Opinion ...

Good job, River. I bailed at 3.36 and 3.10. That 6.5% against GOOG works out to a tremendous amount of $$. GOOG will try to find a way to prevent payment but it's too late for them, right? Do they have appeals?

Current strategy: Have VRNG in 4 different accounts, have to be very alert. Currently have limit sell orders at 5.97- 5.98 in each but can modify easily or go market. In PM got to about 5.60. Lot of selling pressure right now. Profit taking. Don't see squeeze yet. Ask currently 5.34. Isn't this fun? Need another cuppa joe and a ciggie. I'll keep quiet now...

GOOG has appeals on everything!!! including the judge's middle name. Actually, so does VRNG, especially the nasty "laches" decision (remember?). Appeals could take a few more years. I'm bailing when the oink factor starts to kick in before friday close.

P.S. Jury said 3.5%. V asked for 3.5% - 7%. Judge came in with the beautiful 6.5%. Wonder if GOOG might just settle at this point?

Here's an update on my new buys (since 2/1/14). Am on a 30-day free sub from Zacks. The following are an experimental adventure... Have bot 100 shares each, except for NUAN where I added 1000 to an existing position, averaging down.

                    MDVN (74.76)
                    RCL (48.26)
                    NUAN (15.50) -- [-3.2%] (Sold 2/11 @ 14.97 in decline after earnings report)
                    SFM (35.07)
                    VRX (134.97)

Will keep you posted on results.

River, Here are 5 #1's I really like: AER, VLCCF, GPRE, DEPO, CCRN. I bought 2 of their recommendations in the last 2 weeks. They both missed estimates and tanked. ELY and AFFX. My best results come from making a list of #1's then crosschecking with other sources. Whenever I get talked into buying something I wouldn't normally buy it usually doesn't turn out well.

good idea, billy. I also check vs. the IIC 100 and his power rankings for some kind of consensus. Of course, you can also look at the MrMarket method, which has proven to be very good in an up market.

Mimo, As of today Mr.Market is positive 35 out of his last 42 picks for 83.33%. I'd like to hit 70% this year. So far for 2014, 4 positive sales and 1 loser. Can't be too selective as it gets to a point of overthinking. Have to stick to my method. Probably will do fewer trades this year unless a wild bull starts running.

Done watching profits melt away. Just took > $8,000 profits. A bird in hand...and all that. Lots more opportunities out there. This is looking to be a bigger and better 2014.

River, An impressive list. Lots of $$ to play with now. You might be "Ms. Market" . Was thinking of you while watching the Canadian sisters win those Mogul Gold and Silver medals in the Winter Olympics.
