Since I've held this stock, I've banked $60.32/share in dividends. Still not enough to get me to a positive gain...but not be ignored either.

Good point. While 83 consecutive is confirmed and true there were those few laggards the portfolio still holds and may be time to consider purging and starting everything fresh.

It has been a spectacular run over many-many years and nothing is wrong with a fresh start and strive to break old records

This event actually makes me look back at all the winners since TNH and once again remind me of how incredibly HUGE Mr. Market truly is!

CF Industries Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: CF) announced today that its wholly owned subsidiary Terra Nitrogen GP Inc. (TNGP) has elected to exercise its right to purchase all of the 4,612,562 publicly traded common units of Terra Nitrogen Company, L.P. (TNCLP) (NYSE: TNH) on April 2, 2018, for a cash purchase price of $84.033 per unit in accordance with the terms of TNCLP's partnership agreement. As of the April 2, 2018, purchase date, all rights of the holders of the units will terminate, with the exception of the right to receive payment of the purchase price.

"Purchasing all of the publicly traded common units of TNCLP will allow CF to simplify our corporate structure and significantly reduce administrative costs associated with operating TNCLP," said Tony Will, president and chief executive officer, CF Industries Holdings, Inc. "It will be another positive step forward in our ongoing effort to reduce CF's controllable costs."

The purchase price of $84.033 per unit was determined under the terms of TNCLP's partnership agreement as the average of the daily closing prices per common unit for the 20 consecutive trading days beginning with January 5, 2018 and ending with February 2, 2018.

The estimated purchase price of all of the 4,612,562 publicly traded common units of TNCLP is approximately $390 million. CF intends to fund the purchase with cash on hand. Upon completion of the purchase, TNCLP units will cease to be publicly traded or listed on the New York Stock Exchange.

I bought about 1/3 of the position I'd normally want to own. They are in a downturn with their stock prices and their earnings trends heading lower. It looks like an okay time to start a position although there is a risk of their 4-5% dividends being cut. I expect to finish buying the other 2/3 by February. That should be enough time to see if the business steadies or if they need to start raising debt, cutting the dividend etc. POT is around 17 ($14.3 billion market cap) and MOS about 26.75 ($9.4 billion market cap) vs TNH at like 112 ($2 billion market cap. The stock prices are all down about 50% from where mrmarket first liked TNH(not including dividends) in 2012. I think mrmarket still likes TNH (although it's been a naughty boy) since he hasn't sold it yet. These stocks put in a significant bottom in Jan-Feb. I'm watching and waiting to see if that bottom stays a bottom the next 6 months.
    The dividend is excellent

$39 is 15% of $256. If TNH just makes it back to where you bought it, you've achieved the 15% profit target in dividends alone!

Mr.Market, Since purchasing TNH on 4/20/12 you have received 12 dividend payments totaling 39.18 per share. Had you reinvested this $$ into more shares from each dividend I don't know what the compounded return would be. Here are the 12 payments from each quarter held : 4.00, 4.21, 4.12, 3.63, 4.68, 4.02, 2.02, 2.10, 3.01, 3.11, 1.78, 2.50.

Dividend Channel gives me $39.28 in dividends (it was over $4 a quarter early on).
